We have Innocent fruit drinks in the UK which I love - they're all fruit and absolutely nothing else. They are also really expensive, so I like to make my own versions. They're really simple and really cheap to make in the summer (more so if you grow your own fruit!). This is my fave recipe...

1 (290 g) can raspberries (drained. Or a punnet of fresh ones works even better!)
1 large blood orange (although I'm sure it works with other types too)
2 tablespoons orange juice (or water if you prefer)

Steps:

  • Slice both ends off the orange and carefully remove the skin and as much of the white as you can. I find it easiest to just use a sharp knife and cut away as much as possible.
  • Chop in quarters and throw in a blender.
  • Wash raspberries and add to the blender.
  • Add 2tbsps orange juice (water works too but it needs something to thin it out a bit) and blend until smooth.

Steps:

  • In the large Personal Blender cup, combine all ingredients. Process according to the manufacturer's directions. Pour into a chilled glass; serve immediately.

  • To peel orange segments, we like to use a sharp knife to carefully remove the peel, then separate into segments with a knife or by hand. The main objective is to remove as much of the white pith as possible to maximize orange flavor and downplay bitterness. Remove any visible seeds as well.
  • Add peeled orange segments to a plate or baking sheet and freeze (at least 1 hour, preferably overnight).
  • Add frozen orange segments to a high-speed blender (or small blender) along with dairy-free milk, collagen, lime juice, and salt. Blend on high until creamy and smooth, adding more dairy-free milk as needed to blend into a creamy, pourable texture.
  • Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more lime juice to balance the sweetness, coconut milk for creaminess, or salt to taste. It should be plenty sweet (if not, blend in a little honey, stevia, or maple syrup to taste).
