1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 cups cabbage, shredded
salt and pepper
1 (10 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 cup water
3 -4 tablespoons long-grain rice

Steps:

  • In a skillet, brown onion and ground beef.
  • Place in the bottom of a medium casserole dish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Sprinkle rice on top.
  • Spread shredded cabbage on top of the rice.
  • Mix water and soup together and pour over everything.
  • Do NOT stir.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 325F.

3/4 cup raw brown or white rice
4 cups cabbage, shredded
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups shredded cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Brown beef in a skillet and drain fat. Add onion and saute until translucent. Add soup, water, and rice, cover and let simmer for 10 minutes. Spread cabbage in bottom of a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. Layer beef mixture on top, spread evenly but don't stir. Cover and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until rice is cooked. If desired, sprinkle cheese on top and bake for another 10 minutes.

I use to make regular cabbage rolls until I found this recipe. Now, instead, I make this and it is as good as the regular cabbage rolls and alot easier.

2 pounds ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
3 ½ pounds chopped cabbage
1 cup uncooked white rice
1 teaspoon salt
2 (14 ounce) cans beef broth

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet, brown beef in oil over medium high heat until redness is gone. Drain off fat.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine the onion, tomato sauce, cabbage, rice and salt. Add meat and mix all together. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour broth over meat mixture and bake in the preheated oven, covered, for 1 hour. Stir, replace cover and bake for another 30 minutes.
