Time 25m

Yield 6-8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 14-ounce package cocktail-sized smoked sausages, patted dry
1 large egg
everything bagel seasoning (optional)
3/4 c. mayonnaise
1/4 c. chile-garlic sauce or Sriracha
3/4 c. Dijon mustard
1/4 c. genuine maple syrup
3/4 c. sour cream
1/4 c. pickle juice (from jar)
1 tbsp. fresh chives, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°. Working quickly while cold, unroll the crescent dough sheet on a lightly floured surface and separate the perforated dough into 8 triangles. Cut each dough triangle into three equal skinny triangles.
  • Place one cocktail sausage on the wide base of one skinny triangle. Roll the sausage toward the pointed end of the triangle, allowing the dough to overlap and wrap around the sausage. Place the rolled sausage on a parchment-lined baking sheet, point-side down. Repeat with the remaining dough triangles and sausages.
  • Whisk together the egg with 1 teaspoon water in a small bowl until smooth. Brush the egg wash over the dough and sprinkle with the everything bagel seasoning, if desired. Bake at 375° until the dough is puffed and golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Make the dipping sauces (optional): For the Spicy Mayo Dipping Sauce, stir together the mayo and chile-garlic sauce in a small bowl until smooth. For the Maple-Dijon Dijon Dipping Sauce, stir together the mustard and syrup in a small bowl until smooth. For the Quick Ranch, stir together the sour cream, pickle juice, and chives in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Serve the pigs in a blanket warm with Spicy Mayo, Maple Dijon, or Quick Ranch Dipping Sauces.

PIGGY ROLLS

Pigging out: Making dinner rolls can be a family affair when you start out with store-bought bread dough. Everyone will love forming these adorable edible pigs.

Categories     side-dish

Time 35m

Yield 8 rolls

Number Of Ingredients 6

Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound frozen white bread dough, thawed, such as Bridgford Frozen White Ready Dough
2 tablespoons milk
1 large egg
Pinch kosher salt
16 black sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment and spray with nonstick spray.
  • For the heads: Divide the dough into eight 2-ounce pieces. Pinch a marble-size piece of dough from each piece and set aside. Roll each large piece of dough into a tight ball and arrange on the prepared baking sheet about 2-inches apart.
  • Beat together the milk, egg and salt in a small bowl.
  • Snip a tiny slit in the back of each dough ball, close to the bottom and pull out to make a tail. Working 1 at a time, brush the dough balls all over with the egg wash. Pinch 1 of the reserved marble-size pieces of dough in half. Flatten half into a round pig nose. Stick onto the dough ball where it starts to curve down to the baking sheet opposite the tail. Stick 2 toothpicks in each nose to make nostrils (leave the toothpicks in while the rolls bake). Form 2 triangle-shaped ears from the other half of the reserved piece of dough. Press into the top of the dough ball so that the 2 pieces are touching; stick a toothpick into the back of each ear to keep it in place while baking. Press 2 sesame seed eyes between the nose and ears.
  • Bake until the pigs have risen and are golden, 15 to 18 minutes. Cool on a rack. Remove the toothpicks. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Pigs in a Blanket Christmas Wreath image

With a circular arrangement and a little decoration with some rosemary sprigs once ready to serve, you'll have a beautiful holiday wreath-styled recipe that's absolutely perfect to serve before any Christmas meal!

Provided by Rebekah Rose Hills

Categories     Christmas Appetizers

Time 35m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 (14 ounce) package cocktail-size smoked link sausages (such as Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies ®)
12 sprigs fresh rosemary, or to taste
¼ cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Unroll crescent roll dough on a clean work surface and brush generously with Dijon mustard. Cut each crescent roll triangle into 3 triangular pieces. Place a sausage at the thick end of one of the crescent roll strips and roll up, ending at the narrow end. Repeat until you have used all dough and made 24 pigs in a blanket. Reserve remaining sausages for another use.
  • Arrange pigs in a blanket in a circular shape on a round pizza pan, with rolls gently touching.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until dough is golden brown and puffed up, 15 to 18 minutes. Allow to cool for a few minutes before carefully transferring the wreath onto a round serving tray. If the sections come apart during the transfer, just recreate the circle shape as best as you can.
  • Arrange rosemary sprigs around the outside of the wreath and place ketchup in a small bowl in the middle.

Kids love this one. My mom made it for me as did her mom. If making for a small child, cut the hot dogs into fourths length wise. The cheese is always optional.
