ORANGE CARROT CHIA SMOOTHIE



Orange Carrot Chia Smoothie image

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 cup orange juice (I used a mix of orange and meyer lemon juice here, but just orange works well too)
Scant 2 cups (8 ounces) peeled and sliced carrots
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Small pinch of kosher salt
1 cup (8 ounces) almond milk ice cubes

Steps:

  • Place chia seeds and orange juice in a small bowl, whisking to combine. Let sit for 20 minutes, whisking occasionally,
  • Add the hydrated chia seeds with juice to the container of a blender along with all other ingredients. Blend until smooth. Taste and add more honey or lemon juice as needed.

Mango, Coconut and Chia Smoothie image

This tropical-inspired smoothie is loaded with vitamin C and also delivers a fair amount of potassium. Chia seeds are packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, and they add a texture that makes this smoothie reminiscent of bubble tea.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 teaspoon chia seeds
1/2 cup light coconut milk
1/2 cup chopped peeled ripe mango (about 1/4 mango)
1 tablespoon honey, optional
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
3/4 cup ice cubes

Steps:

  • Stir the chia seeds and coconut milk together in a small bowl. Allow to sit for 30 minutes so that the chia seeds plump slightly.
  • Put the mango, 2 tablespoons cold water, honey if using, lime juice and ice cubes into a blender. Blend on high until very smooth. Add the chia seed and coconut milk mixture and pulse until just combined; avoid blending the chia seeds too much. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of cold water if needed to adjust consistency.

2 medium carrots , peeled and roughly chopped or grated depending on your blender
2 oranges , peeled
2cm piece of ginger , grated
2 tbsp oats
100g ice

Steps:

  • Tip all the ingredients into a blender or smoothie maker and blitz until smooth, adding 150ml water if it's too thick - alter the consistency to your liking.
