2 bags chocolate chips (dark or milk chocolate)
1 bag pretzels (logs work well for this, but you can try any of the medium to thick variety of twists)
Chopped nuts, for garnish, optional
Colored nonpareils, for garnish, optional
Sprinkles, for garnish, optional
Coconut, for garnish, optional
Crushed cookies, for garnish, optional

Steps:

  • Melt chocolate in double boiler over medium heat on stove top. Using tongs, or your fingers, quickly dip pretzels in chocolate allowing the excess to run off. Place dipped pretzels on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, colored sugars or other toppings. Allow to harden. You may need to refrigerate for a while to help this along. Once hardened, remove from sheets and store in a cool location, with waxed paper between layers.
  • Tip: Package pretzels in clear cellophane bags or in vase for festive gift giving!

I received a flier in the mail today for a new cookbook called "Pillsbury Christmas 2008" and there were 2 free recipes included. This is one of them.

1 (10 ounce) can salted mixed nuts (coarsely chop the Brazil nuts)
1 (16 1/2 ounce) Pillsbury sugar cookie dough, 1 roll
1 cup toffee pieces
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
1/3 cup butterscotch chips
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup pretzel, salted, coarsely chopped
1 ounce vanilla candy coating, chopped (or almond bark)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F Spray 13 x 9-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Spread nuts evenly in pan. Cut cookie dough into 1/2-inch-thick slices; arrange slices over nuts. With floured fingers, press dough evenly in pan to form crust. Sprinkle toff bits evenly over crust; press in lightly. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack 30 minutes.
  • In large microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and butterscotch chips on high 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Stir in peanut butter until well blended. Fold in pretzels. Spread mixture evenly oven cooled baked crust.
  • In small microwaveable bowl, microwave candy coating on high 30 to 60 seconds or until melted, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth. Drizzle over bars. Refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 15 minutes. Cut into bars.

Pretzels, raisins and almonds are coated with melted chocolate and formed into clusters for a delicious easy-to-make snack.

1 cup miniature pretzel twists
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/3 cup slivered almonds
2 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces, melted

Steps:

  • Combine pretzels, raisins and almonds in large bowl. Add chocolate; toss until pretzel mixture is evenly coated.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto wax paper-covered baking sheet. Let stand 1 hour at room temperature or until chocolate is firm.
  • Remove from wax paper. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

These are a little different than just chocolate dipped pretzels. I guessed at the time it takes to make these and it doesn't include the sitting time.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons vegetable shortening
25 twisted pretzels
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Combine shortening and chocolate chips in a microvable safe bowl.
  • Microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes are until ingredients are melted.
  • Stir until smooth.
  • Carefully remove bowl from microwave.
  • Place a sheet of wax paper on the counter or any flat surface.
  • Dip each pretzel in chocolate mixture and place on waxed paper and quickly sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
  • Let pretzels sit at room temperature for 1 hour or until chocolate is harden.
