1 cup sifted flour
1 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons melted shortening

Steps:

  • Grease pans. Mix and sift flour and salt. Combine eggs, milk, and shortening. Gradually add to flour mixture, beating about one minute or until batter is smooth. Fill greased sizzling hot pans about three-quarters full and bake in very hot oven (450°F) about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate (350°F) and continue baking for 15 or 20 minutes.

This recipe goes back to the 50's. My mom made them all the time and was always a favorite. She got the recipe off a Wheaties cereal box.

1 c shortening
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
2 c coconut
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 flour
2 c wheaties

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350*
  • 2. Cream sugars, eggs and shortening together
  • 3. Add soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla
  • 4. Add coconut and flour then stir in wheaties
  • 5. These are drop cookies so drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheets Bake approximately 10 minutes or until lightly brown.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon cream
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
rind of one lemon, grated
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder

Steps:

  • Blend together 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Add 1 egg and 1 tablespoon cream. Grate rind of lemon and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon flavoring and add to mixture. Add 1-1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Chill for 2 to 3 hours (better when chilled overnight). Roll very thin and cut with dough cutter. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 375°F oven.
