Mozzarella-stuffed Garlic Butter Crescent Rolls image

These take just minutes to put together and are absolutely delicious! We had them with dinner, but these would be a great snack served with your favorite marinade for dipping. My family ate these up so fast, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the gooey, cheesy inside!

Categories     Bread     Cheese

Yield 20 rolls

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 store bought pizza dough, cut into about 20, 1 inch pieces
5-6 mozzarella cheese sticks cut into ½ inch pieces OR 1 ¼ cups shredded mozzarella
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
8 cloves garlic
1tsp kosher salt
2 tsp dried oregano
Parmesan cheese for topping

Steps:

  • Begin by finely mincing the garlic and kosher salt until paste-like. Add this mixture to the melted butter and stir to combine. Set aside. On a lightly floured surface, pound the 1 inch dough pieces out into a thin circle; it should be 3 inches wide. Place the piece of mozzarella cheese in the center (or 1 tbsp if using shredded) and fold up the dough around the cheese and seal. Place in the prepared cake pans; they should just barely touch. Brush the rolls with half of the raw garlic and melted butter mixture and reserve the rest. Sprinkle the buttered rolls with oregano and place in the oven for about 20 minutes. The rolls should be puffed and golden brown. The remaining butter mixture should be brushed over the top of the rolls immediately after removing them from the oven along with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese.

CLASSIC LASAGNA WITH MOZZARELLA-STUFFED GARLIC ROLLS RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Classic Lasagna with Mozzarella-stuffed Garlic Rolls Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by davidv

Number Of Ingredients 23

Lasagna:
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
1/2 lb ground beef
2 (24-oz) jars of marinara
1 (32-oz) container of ricotta cheese
2 eggs
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
3 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 package (12 sheets) no-boil lasagna noodles
Mozzarella-Stuffed Garlic Rolls:
1 store-bought pizza dough, cut into 20 1'' pieces
16-oz block mozzarella, cut into 20 cubes
4 Tbsp unsalted butter
1/8 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
3 tsp dried oregano
Parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. To prepare the lasagna, start by making the meat sauce. Combine the sausage and ground beef in a large skillet and sauté over medium-high heat until brown. Add one jar of the marinara to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat. Next, prepare the cheese mixture and combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, basil, and oregano in a medium-size mixing bowl. Spread half of the remaining jar of marinara on the bottom of a 13'' x 9'' pan. Lay four of the lasagna noodles over the marinara and spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Next, spread half of the meat sauce over the cheese mixture and sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the meat sauce. Repeat the layers one more time. Lay the four remaining lasagna noodles over the final layer and spread the rest of the marinara over the noodles. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour. Then, remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove the lasagna from the oven. While the lasagna stands (for at least 15 minutes), prepare the garlic rolls. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F and lightly spray your Temp-tations® Lid-It (or a cookie sheet) with cooking spray. Melt the butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Mix in the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and oregano. Flatten each piece of dough into a 2'' circle on a lightly floured surface. Place a mozzarella cube near the edge of the circle and roll the dough around the cheese. Fold and tuck in the edges. Place each roll seam-side down on the lid or cookie sheet. Then, brush the rolls with the butter mixture. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot.

  • Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt into the bowl of your stand mixer and mix on low until blended. Combine milk, water and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 15 second increments until very warm but not hot to the touch (120° to 130°F. Butter won’t melt completely). Add to flour mixture and then add the egg.
  • Mix with the paddle attachment for 2 minutes on medium speed, scraping the bowl as needed. Add 1 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed. If necessary, stir in just enough remaining flour so that the dough will form into a ball.
  • Lightly flour your counter top and knead the dough until smooth and elastic and dough springs back when lightly pressed with 2 fingers, about 6 to 8 minutes. (Alternately you can switch out the paddle attachment for your dough hook on the stand mixer and do this step with the dough hook).

  • Place yeast and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a bread hook. Mix and then pour in warm water. Allow to bloom for about 10 minutes, or until mixture becomes bubbly, swells, and is fragrant.
  • Blend in garlic, 1/4 cup melted butter (reserving the other 1/4 cup for basting the rolls at the very end), olive oil, flour, salt, and parsley. Blend with bread hook for 7-10 minutes, or until dough is elastic and pulls away from the side of the bowl.
  • Lightly coat a large mixing bowl with cooking spray. Turn dough into the bowl and flip one time to coat. This will prevent the dough from sticking to your bowl. Cover with a damp kitchen towel and place in a warm, draft-free place to rise for approximately 30 minutes.
  • When bread has risen, cut into half and then divide each half into 7 equal pieces. Flatten each piece with your palm, place a cheese chuck in the center and then cover, pinch and roll. Make sure there are no seams for the cheese to escape while baking. Repeat with for a total of 14 Cheese Stuffed Garlic Rolls. Place onto a baking sheet lightly coated with cooking spray.
