MOM'S KILLER TATER TOT® QUICHE



Mom's Killer Tater Tot® Quiche image

This quiche is absolutely delicious and addictive. The crispy, buttery Tater Tot® potato crust is incredible. I have to tell myself I'm only going to make it on weekends!

3 cups frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Ore-Ida® Crispy Crowns®)
3 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¾ cup diced ham
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 ¼ cups milk
⅓ cup diced onion
⅓ cup diced green bell pepper
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place potato nuggets in a large microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave until thawed, 1 to 2 minutes. Add butter and salt; mash together until potato nuggets are crumbled. Press evenly into a glass pie dish to make crust.
  • Bake crust in the preheated oven until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine Cheddar cheese, ham, Parmesan cheese, and flour in a bowl.
  • Beat 4 eggs in a bowl until smooth. Add milk, onion, green bell pepper, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir into Cheddar cheese mixture until combined. Pour over crust.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until set and golden, about 45 minutes. Let cool before slicing, 10 to 15 minutes.

Breakfast quiche is the answer to all your breakfast prayers! This savory breakfast pie is sure to become a staple in your home.

1 Pie Crust
1 cup mushrooms (sauteed)
1 cup bacon (diced)
1 cup Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
3 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste )
1/2 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste )

Steps:

  • On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pastry. Transfer the crust into a pie pan (8-9 inches wide and 2 inch deep). Trim pastry off the edges of the pie pan.
  • Cover the pie crust with parchment paper. Fill it with rice or peas to hold the pie crust down. Bake at 350 °F for 30 minutes. Remove the pie crust from the oven, let it cool down and remove the rice from the crust.
  • Fill crust with mushrooms, bacon and sprinkle with mozzarella.
  • Whisk eggs together with heavy cream, pour over filled pie crust.
  • Bake at 375 °F for about 30 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

12 slices bacon or 12 slices sausage
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 (6 ounce) package grated swiss cheese
1/2 onion, minced
3 beaten eggs
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon red cayenne pepper
1 cup canned Pet milk

Steps:

  • Fry bacon or sausage and let cool.
  • Pour the bacon/sausage , bell pepper, cheese, and onion into unbaked deep dish pie shell.
  • Mix eggs, salt, sugar, pepper, and milk.
  • Pour over other ingredients.
  • Bake at 425F for 15 minutes OR at 300F for 30 minutes.
  • Enjoy!

9 inches pie shells, deep dish thawed
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1/3 cup ham, chopped
1/3 cup bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup ground sausage, cooked and drained
1/4 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
4 ounces Egg Beaters egg substitute
1 egg
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup skim milk

Steps:

  • cook bacon and sausage, drain and set aside.
  • preheat oven to 375 degrees. Toss together bacon, ham, sausage, cheese and onion. Spoon into pie shell. Whisk together remaining ingredients until well blended. Pour over ham and cheese misture. Bake 45 minutes or until goled and knife inserted in comes out clean.
  • ** Note** use low sodium bacon so that quiche isn't too salty.

This is a staple at my mom and dad's house... and is quickly becoming one at mine too! It's super versatile and you can make it with just about any combination of fillings. I go for the vegetables and have been attempting to incorporate as many as I can from my garden (hence the base recipe below)... my parents will often make a version with spinach and smoked salmon. Also, I use soy milk, but my mom's original recipe calls for heavy cream.

3 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup soymilk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 yellow onion, chopped (I've also used red)
1 red pepper, chopped
1 (10 ounce) package chopped spinach, thawed
2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
1/4 cup grated cheese (I like an Italian blend, mozzarella, asiago, romano, parmesan)
1 partially baked pie crust (I like My No Roll Pie Crust)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • If you haven't already, make the pie crust and put in oven; bake while preparing the rest of the quiche.
  • In a large bowl, mix eggs, soy milk, and spices.
  • Add in onion and red pepper (or filling of your choice); squeeze as much water out of the spinach as possible and stir into egg mixture.
  • Pour egg mixture into partially baked pie crust; top with tomato slices, followed by cheese.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean from center of the pie.
