MY MICROWAVABLE VERSION OF CHEX PARTY MIX

My Microwavable Version of Chex Party Mix image

I am addicted to this stuff! It's so much quicker to make in the microwave. And the kitchen doesn't get heated up if you're making it in the summer. I use store brand corn, rice and wheat squares instead of the Chex brand. Just as good, and a lot less expensive.

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Corn Chex
Rice Chex
Wheat Chex
cheese crackers
peanuts

Steps:

Put cereals, crackers and peanuts in large bowl.
Mix first 5 ingredients together; pour over cereal combination, mixing well to coat.
Microwave on High for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes.
Drain on paper towels that have been put on top of newspaper.

How to make Microwave Chex Mix image

Ingredients

8 tbsp butter
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 cups Wheat Chex
2 cups Rice Chex
2 cups Corn Chex
1 cup pretzels
1 cup peanuts
optional: 1 cup mixed nuts or bagel chips

Steps:

Combine all the cereal, pretzels, nuts, etc. into a big microwave-safe bowl. I like to use a large glass mixing bowl.
Mix the cereal all up.
In a smaller microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
Add all the additional seasonings together and whisk until it's completely mixed.
Pour the seasoning mixture over the cereal mixture and toss it until it's well coated.
Microwave for 2 minutes on HIGH.
Let it sit for 1 minute in the microwave and then give it a stir.
Microwave on HIGH for another 2 minutes, then let it sit for 10 minutes in the microwave with the door closed.
Remove it from the microwave and give it a stir.
Eat immediately or transfer to a covered container.

1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips or regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Steps:

In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips; set aside. In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

There are many recipes for this wonderful snack, so I'll just add another. LOL! Been making this since high school. My friends always loved when I'd make a batch and share it at lunchtime. Always a great treat, young and old. I don't always add the cheerios and cheese crackers. Enjoy!

1 cup(s) mixed nuts
1/2 cup(s) butter, melted
1 1/2 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce

3/4 teaspoon(s) garlic salt

Steps:

In a large glass bowl, combine cereals, crackers, pretzels and nuts. In a small saucepan mix melted butter and seasonings. Pour evenly over cereal mixture and stir to coat evenly. Microwave on high for 4 minutes, stir after 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in air tight container or zip lock baggie.
