MEAT CABBAGE CASSEROLE (MICROWAVE VERSION)
Microwave setting: HIGH 100% If you like the onions real soft, start by microwaving them in the butter first. Then add the meat and cook again according to the recipe directions. Onions have a tendency to remain hard if not cooked separately.

Steps:
- 1. Break up meat into a microsafe baking dish. Microwave for about 3 minutes at HIGH power until meat loses its pink color. Stir and turn meat once.
- 2. Add onion. Microwave another 3 minutes until onion is soft.
- 3. Add butter. Stir until melted.
- 4. Add carrot. Stir well to blend.
- 5. Microwave for 1 minute at HIGH power until carrots are soft. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- 6. Layer cabbage on top of meat mixture.
- 7. Mix spaghetti sauce, Worcestershire sauce and chives. Pour over top. Cover.
- 8. Microwave at HIGH power for 10 minutes. Stir once or twice and press down slightly.
- 9. Microwave another 3 to 4 minutes.
- 10. Add cheese on top. Microwave, uncovered until cheese is melted.
- 11. Serve with a green salad or boiled potatoes for a more substantial meal.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- 2. In a medium skillet, sauté onion in butter until soft, but not brown.
- 3. Add ground meat.
- 4. Cook, breaking up the meat until meat loses its pink color.
- 5. In a 2-quart buttered casserole or baking dish, layer the carrots and half the cabbage.
- 6. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- 7. Add meat mixture, press down slightly.
- 8. Add remaining cabbage.
- 9. To spaghetti sauce, add Worcestershire sauce and chives.
- 10. Pour sauce over top of casserole.
- 11. Cover.
- 12. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour or until cabbage is soft and meat is cooked through.
- 13. Add cheese on top.
- 14. Bake, uncovered, for another 5 to 8 minutes until cheese is melted.
- 15. Serve immediately.

MY MICROWAVED CABBAGE
I never had a recipe for this, but I have made it like this for a very long time. I find it quite tasty.

- 1. Rough cut cabbage, however much you want or need, into a microwave safe bowl.
- 2. Salt and pepper to taste. Lightly sprinkle with onion and/or garlic powders (optional), not enough to overtake the flavor of the cabbage.
- 3. Drop teaspoons of butter or margarine on top of cabbage, you judge for your taste.
- 4. Microwave for 2-3 minute intervals until it reaches your desired level of "doneness". I like mine to be firm but not crunchy.
- 5. This gives the cabbage a light, but very flavorful taste. Enjoy!
