This salad is really delicious. It goes great at a party, pot luck supper, family get together, wedding, baby shower, or as an side dish with your favorite meal, barbecue or picnic...Try it, and enjoy!

1 head romaine lettuce, shredded
2 large beefsteak tomatoes, cut in half, then into thin slices
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup orange bell peppers or 1/2 cup yellow pepper, chopped
1/2 cup red onion, cut in half, then sliced thin
1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas, cooked, and drained
1 (2 1/4 ounce) can black olives, sliced
2 1/2 cups mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sugar
6 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
parmesan cheese
1/2 lb bacon, fried, and crumbled

Steps:

  • Fill a large trifle bowl or glass bowl with shredded lettuce.
  • Add a layer of tomatoes, celery, peppers, onions, peas, and black olives in layers.
  • Spread mayonnaise over top, and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Top with cheeses, and sprinkle bacon over the cheese.
  • Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate 8 hours.

1 lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 tablespoon bacon drippings
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh basil, finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt (Lawrys)
2 teaspoons sugar
1 head iceberg lettuce, rinsed dried and shredded
2 large tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 small red onion, very finely sliced
2 cups seasoned croutons

Steps:

  • In a blender, mix together the reserved bacon drippings, mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, garlic, salt, pepper, sugar and basil blend dressing and set aside.
  • Layer lettuce, tomato, onion, in a 9X13 aluminum pan.
  • Spread mayonnaise mixture evenly over tomato,top with bacon.
  • Cover and chill 2 hours.
  • Just before serving top with,croutons.

VERY BERRY LUSCIOUS SALAD



Very Berry Luscious Salad image

Refreshingly nutritious salad enjoyed for breakfast snack or dessert. For vegans this can be made with simple syrup in place of the honey.

3/4 cup walnuts
6 ounces raspberries
6 ounces blackberries
16 ounces strawberries, 1/4
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup light honey
2 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon leaves
1 piece lime zest, 1/2 x 2 inch piece of zest
3/4 cup lowfat Greek yogurt
vanilla yogurt (optional)
honey (optional)

Steps:

  • In a hot dry pan heat nuts to release natural oils and toast just a couple minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • In a small pot over medium heat add vinegar, honey, tarragon, and zest bring to a boil for 2 minutes stirring. Then turn off heat and cool.
  • Pour honey into blender reserving 1 tablespoon of the honey mixture in the pot.
  • Stir the nuts into the pot with the tablespoon of honey mixture. Season with salt to taste.
  • Add 1/2 the yogurt to the cooled honey in the blender. Blend till herbs and zest is smooth. Pour into a container and fold in remaining yogurt. Chill.
  • Mix the berries and nuts in a bowl and pour the honey yogurt dressing over the berries giving a gentle stir. Chill for 1 hour.
  • Serve over vanilla yogurt or a dollop on top for an extra creamy treat.
  • Garnish with a fresh sprig of tarragon, a whole strawberry and an additional drizzle of honey.

A wonderful sweet summertime lemon jello salad to add to your party table. Simply delicious and so refreshing! Servings are an estimate.

2 (3 ounce) packages lemon Jell-O gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 (12 ounce) can Mountain Dew soda
1 cup miniature marshmallow
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, well drained
1 (22 ounce) can lemon flavor instant pudding and pie filling
1 (8 ounce) carton Cool Whip, thawed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve jello in boiling water.
  • Add Mountain Dew and stir well.
  • Stir in marshmallows, pineapple and half of pie filling.
  • Pour into 2 quart oblong dish.
  • Chill until set.
  • Fold remaining pie filling into thawed Cool Whip.
  • Spread evenly over chilled jello.

SIMPLE LAYERED SALAD



Simple Layered Salad image

My husband used to have a restaurant & when we would cater events we always made this salad. It was always a hit and never any leftovers, just a bit different from most on the site. The lettuce stays crisp for several days, excellent for a lite lunch. Hope you enjoy.

1 small head of lettuce, torn into bite size pieces
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (15 ounce) can English peas
3 -4 hardboiled egg, chopped
1/2 lb bacon, fried & crumbled (I use the real bacon bits, in the jar)
1 lb cheese, shredded, sharp cheddar
2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

  • I use a 13 cup plastic container, with lid.
  • Mix mayonnaise with seasonings & sugar, make sure sugar dissolves, put aside.
  • Place lettuce on bottom of container.
  • Add onion, eggs, then peas.
  • Put dressing on top of these layers, smooth out & seal to sides of container.
  • Top dressing with bacon, then cheese as top layer.
  • Cover & refrigerate for at least 12 hours up to 24 hours.
  • You can mix it up before serving, but we just portion out what we want.
  • For a large crowd, you can double or triple this easily and feed a bunch of people.
  • Cooking time is refrigerator time.
