This third-generation hearty chili is a family favorite. It's a sweet and easy chili that's sure to warm up the whole family on those chilly fall nights. -Terri Keeney, Greeley, Colorado

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can (15-3/4 ounces) pork and beans
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, cook turkey and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until heated through, 15-20 minutes.

2 to 3 teaspoons chili powder

Steps:

  • Cook beef in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.

This one is so easy, I don't even know if it qualifies for a "recipe" but my kids love it and when I don't feel like cooking, but need something on the table fast...this one does the trick every time.

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 -8 fat free turkey hot dogs (or your favorite kind)
2 (7 1/4 ounce) boxes macaroni and cheese mix (any kind)
1/2 cup milk
1 (10 ounce) can of campbell's condensed cheddar cheese soup (or 1 cup melted Velveeta)
1 (10 ounce) can fat free chili sauce (sometimes known as hot-dog sauce)

Steps:

  • Start your water boiling for macaroni, per product instructions, but omitting butter. I usually start with hot water and use a lid for the pot so the water boils faster.
  • Slice wieners in half lengthwise but keep the round shape together.
  • Now, cut them cross-wise into segments so that you end up with several evenly cut pieces per wiener.
  • By now your water should be boiling.
  • Add your macaroni and the wieners to the water.
  • Prepare the rest of the macaroni as usual, cooking for about 11-13 minutes, removing from heat and draining.
  • Add powdered cheese, Campbell's can of cheese soup (or Velveeta), and can of chili sauce.
  • You can add a can of diced tomatoes, plain or with green chili's if your kids like a little zing in their food.
  • That's the way we like it.
  • Mix well and serve.

  • Stir in the broth, tomato sauce, oregano, sugar, and macaroni and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring every so often so the macaroni doesn't stick to the bottom, until the pasta is al dente, 9 to 12 minutes. Use a soup spoon to skim any grease off the top, if necessary.
  • Off the heat, add the evaporated milk and cheese and stir until the cheese is melted. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary. Ladle the chili mac into bowls and sprinkle with the scallions. Serve with more shredded cheese and tortilla chips.
