Kansas Coffee Can Mint Julep's image

This drink is the perfect drink for a girls night or a relaxed gathering. This is a favorite when we go to the lake, always a huge hit! Be careful, this drink is very strong, good for sipping!

Number Of Ingredients 6

10-15 mint leaves
ice cubes
12 fl oz. frozen lemonade concentrate
12 fl oz. gin
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
1 can of beer

Steps:

  • 1. Rub the inside of coffee can tin with mint leaves. Leave the leaves in the can, fill the can to the top with ice.
  • 2. Add the frozen lemonade concentrate. Fill empty concentrate can with gin to measure, dump into coffee tin. Add powdered sugar and beer.... and put the lid on and shake!
  • 3. Add a couple straws and it makes for the perfect social party drink. ***If you wrap the can with a towel and secure the towel with duct tap it will keep the drink cold longer***

Yield 10 servings (2-1/2 cups syrup).

Number Of Ingredients 8

MINT SYRUP:
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
2 cups loosely packed chopped fresh mint
EACH SERVING:
1/2 to 3/4 cup crushed ice
1/2 to 1 ounce bourbon
Mint sprig

Steps:

  • For syrup, combine the sugar, water and chopped mint in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; cool to room temperature. , Line a mesh strainer with a double layer of cheesecloth or a coffee filter. Strain syrup; discard mint. Cover and refrigerate syrup for at least 2 hours or until chilled., For each serving, place ice in a metal julep cup or rocks glass. Pour 1/4 cup mint syrup and bourbon into the glass; stir until mixture is well chilled. Garnish with mint sprig.
