Spirited take on the traditional pecan pie. Really good! My brother's recipe that he now makes every year, more than once!

3 extra large eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup jack daniel whiskey
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups pecan halves
1 10-inch deep dish pie crust

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Combine eggs, sugar, butter, syrup, vanilla and Jack Daniel's; mix well.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the bottom of the pie shell.
  • Add the pie mixture and pecans.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
3 tablespoons bourbon liquor
1 1/2 cups pecan halves
1/2 cup mini milk chocolate morsels
One 9-inch unbaked pie shell
Homemade Whipped Cream, recipe follows
1 cup heavy cream
4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Melt butter in a small saucepan. While butter is melting, add beaten eggs to a medium sized bowl. Stir in brown sugar, flour, vanilla extract, corn syrup and bourbon until combined. Add butter when just melted.
  • Mix in the pecans and chocolate morsels. Mix all together. Pour mixture into pie shell.
  • Place on a sheet tray and bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
  • When ready to serve top with a dollop of Whipped Cream.
  • Pour heavy cream into a bowl and whip with an electric mixer for a few minutes, until it becomes thick. Add confectioners' sugar and beat until soft peaks form, about 2 minutes. Fold in vanilla extract.

This boozy version of a traditional Southern favorite exceeds everyone's expectations. It is great to serve for the holidays. You can experiment with light or dark brown sugar, but I prefer the stronger flavor of dark brown sugar. Always remember to use pure vanilla extract, unsalted butter, and fresh ingredients, as they improve the flavor. Since I bake this in a 10-inch ceramic pie plate, I make my own pie crust, which is not included here. The amount of filling might be more than you require for a smaller, store-bought frozen crust.

1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
1 cup light brown sugar or 1 cup dark brown sugar
3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 teaspoon Jack Daniels Whiskey
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
16 ounces shelled pecan halves (2 1/2 measuring cups)
1 large pie crust

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients and mix with an electric mixer.
  • Add the melted butter and mix quickly with mixer.
  • Place pecans halves in the pie crust in the 10-inch pie plate. Pour syrup mixture over the nuts.
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes. Check on it at 40 minutes. At 50 minutes, the syrup should be bubbling up around the pecans, which means it's done. Remove pie from oven and let cool on rack for an hour or two.
  • Refrigerate pie for several hours or overnight. Refrigeration thickens pie syrup and intensifies flavor.
  • Serve a la mode with a scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream.

1/4 c jack daniel's whisky
1 c pecans, in pieces

Steps:

  • 1. preheat oven to 350*. 1-9 inch pie pan,uncooked crust.
  • 2. in large bowelbeat eggs slightly.beat in corn syrup,sugar,salt,margarine,and jack daniel's.place pecans bits in bottom of pastry lined pan.pour filling into pastry lined pan.bake at 350* for 55 minutes.cool.
  • 3. brush top of pie evenly with mixture of. 1 tbsp.jack daniel's 1 tbsp.corn syrup.

  • In a two qt. sauce pan on medium heat, cook butter, sugar, vanilla and corn syrup on medium heat until butter and sugar are melted and well mixed with the corn syrup (about 5 minutes.) Let stand off heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, whisk eggs. When corn syrup mixture is still warm but not hot, add whisked eggs, chocolate chips, Bourbon and pecans. Mix well and pour into pie shell. If you have a pie crust shield, add it to the rim to protect crust from over browning or burning.
  • Bake at 350F on center oven shelf with a pie crust cover for one hour to 1 hour or until center is set. Let pie cool completely. Store covered in refrigerator for up to one week. Freeze up to six months. Pie freezes well.
