4 frozen soy-protein burgers or soy-protein vegetable burgers
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
4 teaspoons olive or vegetable oil
1 small onion, cut in half, sliced
1 small red bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch strips
1 small green bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch strips
4 hot dog buns, split
1/2 cup tomato pasta sauce, heated

Steps:

  • On large microwavable plate, microwave burgers uncovered on High 2 to 3 minutes, turning once, until thawed. In medium bowl, mix thawed burgers, cheese and Italian seasoning. Shape mixture into 16 balls.
  • In 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat 2 teaspoons of the oil over medium heat. Add burger balls; cook, turning frequently, until brown. Remove from skillet; keep warm.
  • In same skillet, heat remaining 2 teaspoons oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell peppers; cook, stirring frequently, until crisp-tender.
  • Place 4 burger balls in each bun. Top with vegetable mixture. Serve with pasta sauce.

2 pounds lean ground beef
2 pounds mild bulk Italian sausage
1 cup water
2 large (2 cups) onions, chopped
2 medium (2 cups) green bell peppers, coarsely chopped
2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce with Italian herbs
2 (6-ounce) cans tomato paste with Italian herbs
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh garlic
16 brat buns
16 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Provolone Cheese cut in half

Steps:

  • Cook ground beef and sausage in 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 15-20 minutes or until meat is browned. Drain off fat.
  • Place meat, water, onions, bell peppers, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and garlic into slow cooker. Cover; cook on High heat setting 2-3 hours or on Low heat setting 5-6 hours.
  • Spoon mixture into buns; top each with 2 pieces cheese.

We have a local pizza shop that sells Italian Grinders and I am not always able to go there to get them so after a couple of years I have now gotten what I think is their recipe. At least they taste the same.

4 Italian rolls (Sub)
8 slices hot capicola, ham (thin sliced)
8 slices pepperoni (large, thin sliced)
8 slices genoa salami (thin sliced)
8 slices provolone cheese (thin sliced)
2 cups iceberg lettuce (chopped or shredded)
8 slices tomatoes
Good Seasons Italian dressing

Steps:

  • Slightly toast buns, with insides up, in toaster oven or oven.
  • On bottom half of bun layer two slices capicola, pepperoni, salami and provalone.
  • Return to oven and toast until cheese is melting and kind of bubbly (my meat starts to crisp a little on the edges) and top bun is toasty brown.
  • Remove from oven and top with shredded lettuce, tomato and italian dressing.

1/2 large onion, thinly sliced
1 12-inch loaf soft Italian bread
5 tablespoons red wine vinegar
5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1/4 pound deli-sliced provolone cheese
1/4 pound deli-sliced Genoa salami
1/4 pound deli-sliced boiled ham
1/4 pound deli-sliced mortadella
1/4 pound deli-sliced capicola
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
1/4 to 1/2 cup sliced pickled pepperoncini (optional)
3 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

Steps:

  • Soak the onion slices in a large bowl of cold water, 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, split the bread lengthwise, then pull out some of the bread from the inside. Drizzle 2 tablespoons each vinegar and olive oil on the bottom half. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Layer the cheese and meat on the bottom half of the bread. Drain the onion and pat dry. Top the meat with the onion, lettuce, pepperoncini (if using) and tomatoes. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons each vinegar and olive oil and sprinkle with the oregano. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Drizzle the cut side of the bread top with the remaining 1 tablespoon each vinegar and olive oil, then place on top of the sandwich. Cut into 4 pieces.

3 tablespoons olive oil
1-1/2 cups water
2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon each dried basil, oregano and parsley flakes
12 brat buns, split and toasted
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown sausages in oil; drain. Stir in the water, tomato paste, tomato sauce, garlic, sugar and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until meat is no longer pink., Serve sausages on buns with sauce; sprinkle with cheese.

2 hoagie rolls (If you can't get Amoroso's or Del Campo, use any good, crusty sub roll or 1 Italian bread)
4 -6 leaves iceberg lettuce
extra virgin olive oil (for drizzle)
1/4 lb genoa salami (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb pepperoni (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb prosciutto di Parma (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb roast beef (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb pastrami (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb capicola (Thinly sliced)
1/4 lb mortadella (Thinly sliced)
1/4 lb mozzarella cheese (Thinly Sliced)
1/4 lb provolone cheese (Thinly Sliced)
1 large tomatoes (Thinly Sliced)
1 onion (Thinly Sliced)
4 tablespoons pitted green olives (Sliced)
salt
fresh ground black pepper
garlic powder
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Steps:

  • Slice the Italian bread lengthwise being careful not to cut completely through. Open the bread. Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil onto both halves of the bread.
  • Evenly distribute and lay out the leaves of lettuce, Genoa Salami, Pepperoni, Prosciutto di Parma, Roast Beef, Pastrami, Capicola, Mortadella, Mozzarella Cheese, Provalone Cheese, Tomato, and Onion. Evenly spread the sliced and pitted Green Olives.
  • Sprinkle with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Sprinkle with the grated Parmesan Cheese. If you like crushed red pepper flakes, sprinkle with the flakes. Drizzle with Extra-Virgin Olive Oil again. Close the bread and cut in half crosswise to make 2 hoagies.
