- Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels and let cool enough to handle, 5 to 10 minutes. Crumble.
- Combine crumbled bacon with broccoli, sunflower seeds, and red onion in a large bowl.
- Mix mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar together in a separate bowl. Pour over broccoli mixture and mix together. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before serving.

- Fill a 6-qt. stockpot two-thirds full with water; add salt and bring to a boil over high heat. If you have fresh broccoli in a microwave safe bag, it makes this dish even quicker! A 12 oz. bag of broccoli microwaves in just 4 minutes.

- Steam fresh broccoli, or microwave frozen or fresh bagged broccoli according to package directions.
- Drain any excess liquid and set aside.
- Meanwhile, cook bacon in nonstick skillet until done.
- Remove from skillet and crumble.
- Wipe most of the excess grease from the skillet.
- Saute onions and mushrooms in skillet until tender.
- Add broccoli to skillet.
- Stir in salad dressing.

ITALIAN BROCCOLI-BACON PASTA RECIPE

Steps:
- Cook the small broccoli florets in boiling water with 1 tsp salt until soft (they should be bright green). Drain and set aside.
- Cook the pasta in boiling water with 1 tsp salt until al dente (follow instructions on the package). Drain and put back in the pot. Melt 2 Tbsp butter and mix into the pasta.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil on medium-high, add the bacon and fry until lightly crisp. Fold a paper towel and put it in the skillet. Move it around the pan with spatula until it soaks up most of the fat. Discard the paper towel.
- Reduce to medium heat. Add the garlic and fry for 2 to 3 minutes stirring constantly.
- Add the broccoli and season with salt and pepper. Stir over medium heat for 2 minutes.
- Add the broccoli mixture to the pasta. Mix well and serve with Parmesan.

- Bring a large pan of water to the boil and cook the pasta according to pack instructions. About 3 mins before the pasta is cooked, throw in the broccoli. When everything is done, drain, reserving about 100ml of the cooking water.
- While the pasta is cooking, grill the bacon for 6-7 mins until crisp, then cut into bite-size pieces. Tip everything into the pasta pan, toss together well and loosen with a little of the cooking water, if needed. Sprinkle over the Parmesan and serve.

- In a large pot of salted water first boil the broccoli florets until al dente, drain well and set aside, in the same water cook the pasta al dente, drain well.
- In a small pan with 1 tablespoon of oil cook pancetta (bacon or sausage) until lightly golden, remove from pan and drain on paper towel lined plate.
- In a medium pot on medium heat, melt butter, whisk in flour and salt until smooth then gradually add milk and stir continuously until smooth and thickened. Gently fold in broccoli and pasta, then gently fold in Pancetta, turn into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and top with fresh thyme. Bake for approximately 15 minutes (I also broil it for about 2-3 minutes to brown the top). Serve immediately. Enjoy!
