HONEY/ SOY TILAPIA



Honey/ Soy Tilapia image

I'm not a seafood person, but a friend made me try this (yummy, by the way), so I thought I would share with other non seafooders. Hope everyone enjoys. note: prep time does not include marinading time.

2 tilapia fillets
3 Tbsp honey
3 Tbsp soy sauce (i use low sodium)
3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 clove garlic (minced)

Steps:

  • 1. Mix last 4 ingredients in a shallow baking dish.
  • 2. Add fish fillets, turning to coat, cover and marinade in fridge for 20 minutes to 1 hour.
  • 3. Preaheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until fish flakes.

Broiled Honey-Soy Tilapia Fillets image

An easy and mouth-watering way to prepare the affordable and versatile fish, tilapia. The sweet and salty flavors of the marinade make this recipe for broiled tilapia a must-try.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tilapia fillets

Steps:

  • Mix olive oil, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and garlic together in a small bowl. Place each tilapia fillet in a separate resealable zip-top bag.
  • Pour 1/2 of the marinade into each bag. Seal bags and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler.
  • Remove fillets from the marinade, shake off excess, and place on a broiling pan with a drip pan or baking sheet underneath. Discard the remaining marinade.
  • Broil in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip fillets and cook until fish flakes easily with a fork, 2 to 3 minutes more.

  • Heat 1-2 tbsp of oil in a large skillet under medium heat. When skillet is heated up, add tilapia to skillet and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until done. Set aside. Do not overlap tilapia when frying. Cook in two (or three) batches if needed.
  • In a small pot, bring to boil soy sauce, miring, honey, ginger powder and garlic powder. Once boil, continue to cook for ~4 minutes under medium heat, or until the sauce thickens slightly. Cook sauce until consistency is glaze-like.
