OVEN BAKED GARLIC PARMESAN CHICKEN WINGS

Oven Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings image

The trick to making the BEST garlic Parmesan chicken wings is to bake them like crispy salt and pepper wings FIRST, then toss them in a decadent garlic Parmesan butter sauce!

Provided by Karlynn Johnston

Categories     Appetizer

Number Of Ingredients 10

2-3 pounds bone-in chicken wings (separated & tips removed)
2-3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1-2 teaspoons coarse or flaked sea salt
1-2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
1/2 cup grated Parmesan (plus more for serving if desired )
Caesar or Ranch dressing (for dipping)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°.
  • Line a large rimmed baking sheet with a metal baking rack. IF you don't have a rack, you can still make these, they won't be as crispy but they will be delicious!
  • Pat the wings dry with a paper towel. Toss in the cornstarch until they are LIGHTLY COATED. You just want a dusting of cornstarch! Season with the salt and pepper.
  • Place the wings in a large bowl and toss with the oil until coated.
  • Place the wings onto the rack, making sure they don't touch, and bake until golden and crispy, about 50 minutes.
  • Place the butter into a small saucepan and melt over medium high heat. Add in the garlic and sautee until browned. Remove from the heat.
  • Stir in the parsley and Parmesan.
  • Place the the baked, hot chicken wings into a large bowl, then pour the sauce on top. Toss until the wings are completely coated in the sauce.
  • If desired, sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese and serve with Ranch or Caesar dressing!

ROASTED HERB WINGS

Roasted Herb Wings image

Of all the wing recipes I've ever created for my game-day parties, this is definitely the crowd pleaser--it always seems like I never make enough! I like to marinate the wings a day in advance so all the flavors have a chance to fully come together, then I cook them an hour before kickoff.

Provided by Eddie Jackson

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h20m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 pounds (910 grams) chicken wings
1/4 cup (60 milliliters) extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for the skillets
1/4 cup (25 grams) grated Parmesan-Romano cheese blend
Leaves from 12 fresh thyme sprigs
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, plus more for garnish
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon hot paprika
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup (20 grams) finely shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Prepare the wings: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C). Rinse the chicken wings under cold water, then pat dry with paper towels. Make sure the wings are completely dry, then break the wings down.
  • Use a sharp chef's knife to break down each wing into three separate pieces. Using your finger, locate the joint connecting the drumette to the wingette (flat), then use the tip of your knife to cut the skin so the joint is visible. Firmly press your knife in between the pieces to separate them. Next, use your finger to locate the joint connecting the wingette (flat) to the wing tip. You don't need to cut the skin, just press your knife through the joint, reserving the wing tips to make stock.
  • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, Parmesan, thyme, parsley, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, Italian seasoning, paprika, and pepper. Add the wings and toss to completely coat. Make sure you don't overcrowd the skillet or the wings will steam rather than bake and won't be crispy.
  • Transfer the wings to two large cast-iron skillets lightly greased with oil and roast, flipping every 10 to 12 minutes, until you can cut into the wing and the juice runs clear, about 40 minutes.
  • Make the tossing sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the sauce ingredients over medium heat. Once the butter melts, reduce the heat to low, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the wings from the oven (leave the oven on) and toss with the warm sauce in a large bowl, making sure to cover each morsel. Return the wings to the cast-iron skillets, drizzle with any leftover sauce, return to the oven, and roast for 5 more minutes. Serve hot, garnished with parsley.

GARLIC AND PARMESAN CHICKEN WINGS

The trick to keeping these oven-baked chicken wings crispy, is parboiling the wings in a flavorful liquid, which helps season the chicken and produce a surface texture in the oven that your guests will swear came straight out of a deep fryer.

GARLIC-PARMESAN CHICKEN WINGS

Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Wings image

This buttery garlic-parmesan sauce is so simple and tastes sinfully delicious. A friend baked plain chicken wings for her Super Bowl party but realized at the last minute that she didn't have Tabasco sauce on hand to make Buffalo sauce. She called in a panic, and this is the sauce I advised. All her party guests raved about it. Some reviewers have stated these wings are as good as or better than Wingstop's. We don't have a Wingstop in our area, so I'll take their word for it! (Note: In response to reviewers' recommendations to decrease the amount of butter, this recipe has been adjusted from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup of butter. Thanks!)

PARMESAN CHICKEN WINGS

Another military wife I know shared this delicious recipe with me. Sherry originally found this recipe in an issue of Taste of Home. This is my adaptation of her version. I always have a bag of frozen wings in the freezer for last minute guests and this recipe is great for using them, since no thawing is required.
