GRANNY'S MESSY CHOCOLATE CAKE
My Granny made this cake for every family function and I've never had another one like it. The frosting is very fudge like and it tastes wonderful!

Steps:
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating after each.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
- Add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
- Add vanilla.
- Pour into three 9 inch layer pans and bake in 350 degree oven until just barely done.
- Remove from pans.
- Slice each layer in half while still warm and pour chocolate icing between layers and on top.
- The icing will run down into the cake.
- CHOCOLATE ICING
- Mix sugar, cocoa, milk, water, and butter in large sauce pan, cook and stir until it forms a soft ball in cold water.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Beat about one minute, pour over cake while hot.

GRANNY'S CHOCOLATE OIL CAKE
The best chocolate cake you will ever eat. Do not skip cooking the frosting or it changes the whole cake

- 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x13 cake pan.
- 2. In a large mixing bowl combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Add the rest of the ingredients for the cake. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed
- 3. Pour into prepared pan, and bake 35 - 40 minutes until done.
- 4. When cake is almost done baking prepare frosting. Heat butter, cocoa, and milk to boiling. Pour over powdered sugar and mix well.
- 5. Allow cake to cool for about 10 minutes. Poke small holes in the cake, I use the end of a wooden spoon, then frost the cake while still warm.
GRANNY CAKE I
This cake recipe is easy to make, using pineapple for a fruity cake and also makes a glaze that helps deliver a cake that is very moist.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Mix the eggs, undrained crushed pineapple, flour, 1 cup of the white sugar, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla together and stir until just combined. Pour batter into one ungreased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Combine the light brown sugar and the chopped nuts. Sprinkle over the top of the cake batter. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done. Remove cake from oven and pour topping over hot cake.
- To Make Topping: In a small saucepan combine the butter or margarine, the evaporated milk, the remaining 1/2 cup of the white sugar, and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla. Cook over medium low heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Mixture will be thin. Pour over hot cake.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10x15-inch cake pan.
- Combine butter, water, and cocoa powder for cake in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until butter has melted and mixture comes to a boil. Remove from the heat and cool slightly.
- Meanwhile, mix flour, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl. Beat buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla extract together in a separate bowl.

- 1. Boil your potatos and mash. Sift all of the dry ingredients. Melt butter. Now mix all ingredients together mixing with a wooden spoon. I lightly beat the eggs before adding. Also make sure their are no big lumps in the potatoes. Mix very well. Pour batter into a greased & floured bundt pan.
- 2. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 for 1 hour. Checking to see if inserted toothpick comes out clean. DO NOT OVER COOK.
- 3. This recipe does not call for and icing, however if you like you can add one. We have always eaten without one. I hope you will enjoy this cake.

I don't know where Granny got this recipe, but boy oh boy is it good. I have to say that it doesn't look pretty; it looks like a very homemade chocolate cake. But served warm, your family will go back for seconds and thirds.

- Combine cake mix, eggs, vanilla & cherry pie filling, mix until well-blended.

- For the cake:.
- Mix cocoa, flour, sugar, soda, baking powder and salt in a bowl. (I always recommend to sieve the dry ingredients.).
- Melt the butter and add it to the dough with the water and the eggs.
- Mix the batter until light and creamy.
