  • Make simple syrup: Bring 1 cup each sugar and water to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar; let cool. Meanwhile, steep 8 black tea bags in a pitcher with 4 cups hot water, 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and add 3 cups cold water, the simple syrup and 3/4 cup citrus vodka; chill. Serve over ice with lemon slices.

  • Steep 8 black tea bags in 1 cup boiling water, 6 minutes; discard the tea bags. stir in 1 1/2 cups raw sugar and the zest of 1 lemon (in strips). let cool; strain into a pitcher. add 3/4 cup lemon juice, 2 cups southern comfort, 4 cups ice cubes and 1 sliced lemon. stir to partially melt the ice. pour into glasses.

8 ounces cold water
6 tea bags
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup freshly chopped mint leaves
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a pot, boil the water with the tea bags. Once liquid has boiled, remove the pot from heat. Remove tea bags after desired bold/mild flavor.
  • In a small saucepan, add water, sugar and mint and place over medium heat. Bring liquid to a boil then remove from the heat. Allow the syrup mixture to cool. Pour syrup into tea and mix together well. Serve tea over a glass of ice.

6 cups sugar
3 cups water, plus 2 quarts, divided
1 1/2 ounces (or 3/4 cup) loose black tea leaves
Ice cubes
2 lemons, zested
1/2 bunch fresh mint
2 ounces your favorite whiskey or bourbon per serving (recommended: Maker's Mark)

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and 3 cups water in a non-reactive saucepan. Slowly heat until sugar melts. Remove from heat and cool.
  • Infuse the black tea in 1 quart of just boiled water for 2 minutes. Strain tea into a pitcher and then add 1 quart of room temperature water.
  • Combine the tea and the cooled simple syrup, mixing well. Refrigerate until cool.
  • To serve, fill a 12-ounce glass with ice cubes, a pinch of zest, and a sprig of mint. Add 2 ounces whiskey or bourbon and fill to the top with the sweetened tea. Stir and serve. Repeat as needed.

SPIKED LEMONY ICED TEA

2 large lemons
4 tablespoons sugar
2 cups hot water
1 cup warm brewed black tea
3 ounces whiskey, such as Johnnie Walker Black Label

Steps:

  • Cut a few thin rounds of lemon and reserve for garnish. Zest 2 tablespoons of zest from the remaining lemons, then juice the lemons (you'll need 4 tablespoons of juice; reserve any additional juice for another use).
  • Make the ice cubes: Stir the lemon zest, 2 tablespoons of the lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of the sugar and the hot water in a heatproof liquid measuring cup. Pour the liquid into a standard ice cube tray and freeze.
  • Make the cocktail: In a mixer, shake together the tea, whiskey, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Shake and set aside for the sugar to melt.
  • Serve: Arrange a few ice cubes in 2 glasses. Add a couple of ice cubes to the mixer and shake. Pour half of the cocktail mix into each. If you like, run the edge of the glasses with the lemon slices. Garnish the glass with the slices.

Steps:

  • Fill the teakettle or saucepan with enough water to completely cover the tea bags, about 2 cups. Bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Let the tea stand for 10 minutes. Put the sugar into a gallon pitcher and add 1 cup cold water. Stir to mix slightly. Pour the hot tea into the sugar mixture and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add 13 cups water to fill the pitcher.

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat, pour into a pitcher, and steep the tea bags about 5 minutes. Mix the sugar mixture into the iced tea. Mix well.
  • Pour the drink mix over ice cubes in a glass. Garnish with 2 slices of lemon and a sprig of mint.
  • Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add sugar. Stir to combine.

10 bags raspberry zinger tea
3 bags mint tea
12 cups water for tea, plus 1 cup for the sugar syrup
1 cup sugar
1 handful fresh mint stems and leaves, plus additional sprigs for garnish
Fresh raspberries, for garnish

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot with 12 cups of water to a boil over medium heat. Add the tea bags and let them steep for 10 minutes. Allow the tea to cool and discard the tea bags. Pour the liquid into a large glass pitcher.
  • Meanwhile, add the sugar and 1 cup water to a saucepan and bring to a simmer, over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Drop in the handful of mint, remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool. At this point, strain and add the sugar syrup to the pitcher. Stir the drink well and divide it between 12 glasses filled with ice. Garnish each serving with some fresh mint sprigs and raspberries.

10 black tea bags
Pinch baking soda
Water, to taste
Bourbon, to taste
Peach schnapps, to taste
Fresh lemon juice, to taste

Steps:

  • Combine all of the tea ingredients to a large pot over medium heat. The baking soda will darken the syrup and reduce the bitterness. Bring the mixture to a boil stirring to dissolve the sugar and extracting as much tea as possible. Once the mixture is boiling, remove the pot from the heat and let steep until cooled. Remove and discard the tea bags and reserve the sweet tea syrup.
  • In a large container combine the sweet tea syrup and add water, to taste. Add remaining ingredients, bourbon, peach schnapps and lemon juice, also to desired taste.

Allow the tea to steep for 12-15 Minutes, then remove the tea bags and squeeze out remaining liquid in the tea bags into the pot.
