Fresh Rainbow Fruit Skewers are a super easy and fun sweet treat. Fruit skewers are a colorful, fun and yummy way to eat the recommended servings of fruit!

12 strawberries
12 orange slices
12 slices of kiwi
12 blackberries
12 green grapes
12 red grapes
24 blueberries
12 wooden skewers

Steps:

  • Using a skewer thread the strawberries, orange slices, kiwi, blackberries, grapes, and blueberries.
  • Arrange them on a platter and serve.

These are always a hit with children. We call them traffic lights with the fruit listed. You can use any fruits of your choice. Serve on their own or with a yogurt as a dipping sauce. Even children that aren't keen fruit eaters usually enjoy these.

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 kiwi fruits, peeled and cut in half across the width
1/2 fresh pineapple, peeled and chopped (8 x 3cm wedges)
8 large strawberries
8 ice-cream sticks

Steps:

  • Peel and chop fruit.
  • Thread onto the ice-cream sticks. First the strawberries, then pineapple and lastly the kiwifruits.
  • Use a small paring knife to cut a hole into the centre of the fruits if they do not thread easily onto the ice-cream sticks.
  • Refrigerate until needed.
  • Suggestion-Serve with a yogurt as a dipping sauce.
  • Variation- can use any fruits of your choice. They just need to be approx 3 times wider than the ice-cream stick.
  • For older children you can use small wooden skewers.

These fruit skewers are healthy and colorful. They will brighten any picnic, brunch, or gathering. Makes 8 skewers.

8 strawberries or 8 raspberries
1 large orange
1/2 pineapple
2 kiwi
8 blueberries
8 red grapes or 8 blackberries

Steps:

  • Choose one fruit for each color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). Peel citrus fruits with a knife and cut into 1- inch cubes. Leave berries whole. String 1 fruit from each color onto the skewer in rainbow order. Repeat this until you have 8 fruit skewers.
  • Note: This recipe is very adaptable. The above are only suggestions. I encourage people to get creative with other fruits, especially substituting ones that are fresh and in season, keeping to a rainbow pattern!
