QUICK EASY SALSA

I never really cared for store bought salsa so I decided to come up with my own recipe. Now I can't make enough of it! I am always asked to bring it with me to any family get-together or potluck. I always leave with an empty bowl!-Dana Sapp, Scottsville, Kentucky

EASY HOMEMADE MILD SALSA RECIPE

Easy Homemade Mild Salsa Recipe image

This easy salsa recipe uses just six ingredients and takes minutes to make. Once you've made your own fresh, homemade salsa (also known as pico de gallo), you'll never go back to store-bought.

Provided by Melissa Clark

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 large plum tomatoes (about 1 pound), diced (to yield 2 cups)
0.25 cup chopped white onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 teaspoons minced jalapeño (remove seeds for less heat)
1.5 teaspoons fresh lime juice
0.75 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
1 small garlic clove, minced

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. If you want your homemade salsa to have a smoother texture-more like jarred-pulse half the salsa in a food processor, then combine it with the remaining chunky half. Cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

SIMPLE SALSA

Simple Salsa image

There are tons of salsas out there, but I haven't found one exactly like mine. (I don't like the taste of lime or lemon juice. It's similar to pico de gallo I guess.) Do yourself a favor and find authentic Mexican chips from a local restaurant to go with this! Can't beat the taste. :) Can spice this up if you want, I do this for my bf, just add some cayenne to the mix! I love this so much I can eat half the bowl in one sitting!!

Provided by MissJennifer

Categories     Sauces

Time 10m

Yield 3-5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 medium tomatoes, diced
1/2 small onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 -2 tablespoon cilantro
salt & pepper (I use garlic pepper salt as well as salt to taste, but you can use salt, pepper, and garlic powder i)

Steps:

  • Wash and dice tomatoes, peel and cut onion, peel and mince garlic or do what I do and use the already minced garlic (1 tsp.)!
  • In a small bowl combine garlic, onion and tomatoes with cilantro, salt, and pepper (or garlic pepper salt). Stir with a spoon and mash a little, this will make it juicy, and as it sits it'll get juicer.
  • Enjoy with chips or add to entrees for flavor/side dip!
