1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/2 to 2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup onion (chopped)
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 head cabbage (small, chopped)
2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon cider vinegar (or wine vinegar)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional: pinch nutmeg

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 small head cabbage, shredded (about 1 pound)
1 can (28 ounces) Mexican diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, brown beef and onion; drain. Stir in cabbage. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until cabbage is crisp-tender. Stir in tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Cook 10 minutes longer, stirring occasionally. Serve over rice.

This is a quick and easy main dish. My kids don't even like cabbage, but they love this. I usually try to serve it with green beans, new potatoes, corn, and a pan of corn bread. They eat over half the pan every time. Also, the longer it stands the better it tastes.

2 pounds ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 small head cabbage, chopped
2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup water
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat a Dutch oven or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef and onion in the hot Dutch oven until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Add cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, garlic, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil. Cover Dutch oven, reduce heat, and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.

2 onions, sliced
1 head cabbage, sliced
2 lbs ground beef, for meatballs
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 bottle chili sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • In large pot, brown 2 onions in about a Tbspn of oil.
  • At this point you can add the ground beef as is and brown, or you can make the ground beef into meat balls.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 1 hour or place in oven-proof casserole and bake for 1 hour.
