EASY HOLIDAY APPETIZER RECIPE: CRABBIES

Easy Holiday Appetizer Recipe: Crabbies image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package crab meat 8 oz. flake
1 package English Muffins
1 package Cheddar Cheese spread in a jar (let it sit out for 20 minutes or so to soften up a bit)
1 stick butter, softened
1 tbsp garlic powder (you can go heavier or lighter on this, depending on how much you love garlic or not!)
1 TBSP mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together. Honestly, I tried to do this by hand, and it might be that I'm lazy, but after about 4 tries, popped the whole mix into my stand mixer and let a machine do the work for me.
  • A few minutes on a low speed and voila! Crabbies filling was ready.
  • After your filling/topping is well mixed, simply open your muffins to be open faced, and generously apply the crabbies mixture.
  • If you are planning to enjoy the Crabbies that night, pop them in a 350 oven for about 10 minutes.
  • If you are planning to freeze your Crabbies and make them another night, place the muffin halves atop one another with parchment paper in between (or wax paper) to make a 'sandwich' and wrap to freeze. Be sure to label the packaging!
  • Crabbies bake in a 350 oven for about 10 minutes.
  • Frozen Crabbies bake in a 350 oven for 12-15 minutes.
  • When your Crabbies are done baking, let them cool just a few minutes, and cut into 6 pieces per muffin. A large knife or a pizza cutter work quite well.
  • That's it. You can fancy up the plate or platter you're serving the Crabbies on if you like!

CRABBIES

These were served at a party many years ago, and I have made them from time to time over the years, and they always disappear quickly. If you enjoy seafood, you will love these. Preparation time does not include freezing time.

CRABBIES

Crabbies image

Yield 72 pieces

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package english muffins, 6 muffins
5 ounce jar Kraft Old English Cheese
4 tablespoons butter, softened at room temperature
1½ teaspoons mayonnaise
½ teaspoon garlic powder
6 ounce can crabmeat

Steps:

  • Instructions PREPARATION: Slice the english muffins in half through the center so you create 2 round halves. In a medium bowl, combine the Kraft Old English Cheese, butter, mayonnaise and garlic powder. You need to have the butter extremely soft for it to blend easily. Make sure everything is combined well and smooth. Stir in the crabmeat. Spread the crabmeat mixture over the tops of the english muffins. You want the top to be completely covered, but spread fairly thin with the mixture. You should have enough spread for all 12 muffin halves. Place the muffins onto a baking sheet and place it into the freezer. Let them freeze for 1 hour. Remove the muffins and place on a cutting board. Cut each muffin in half. Cut each half into 3 equal size triangles. You will get 6 pieces from each muffin. Place the triangles into a freezer container and return them to the freezer until you are ready to bake them. . BAKING: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Place triangles onto an un greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, until the tops of the Crabbies are lightly browned. Serve at once.
