ITALIAN-INSPIRED CASSEROLE

Steps:

• In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook sausage, beef, onion and green pepper until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, water and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Add corn and olives. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in noodles. , Pour into two greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dishes. Top with cheese. • Brown meat, drain fat. Add spaghetti sauce and sugar to meat; simmer 20 minutes.
• Cook noodles as directed (al dente); drain and toss with margarine, salts.

• Spray two 9x13 pans with non-stick spray. In both pans layer half the sauce,.
• all the noodles, rest of sauce; top with mozzarella cheese.

• Add both jars of spaghetti sauce to drained meat.
• While browning meat, prepare penne according to package directions, drain.
• In 9x13 baking dish, layer ingredients: meat/sauce, cheese, pasta, cheese, meat/sauce cheese and so forth, ending w cheese (roughly 3 layers of each).
• Bake uncovered until bubbly and cheese is melted.
