Oh-So-Easy Caramel Sauce image

This is a rich, sweet caramel sauce that can be made at the last minute that is great on bread pudding, gingerbread, apple pie, chopped apples, ice cream, and anything else you want to put it on.

1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Bring brown sugar, butter, and milk to a gentle boil and cook until thickened, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat; add vanilla extract.

1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/2-3/4 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • In heavy small saucepan melt butter over medium-low heat. Stir in packed brown sugar and granulated sugar. Bring to boiling, stirring constantly.
  • Stir in whipping cream and return to boiling. Boil 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in sea salt. Cool completely.

¼ cup unsalted butter
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup heavy cream
½ teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a saucepan. Add white and brown sugars and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in cream and return to a boil. Boil, stirring constantly, for exactly 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in salt.
  • Allow glaze to cool completely, 30 to 45 minutes. Place in the refrigerator to chill, 8 hours to overnight.
