SIMPLE BAKED POTATO

Simple Baked Potato image

This recipe for baked potatoes is delicious with steak, meatloaf, or by itself. I never was fan of the potato's skin until I began making this recipe! These potatoes taste amazing loaded with cheese, sour cream, and/or chives! If you want to get fancy, use this recipe as a base recipe for one of the many potato skin, whipped baked potato, or other more-to-it recipes on here.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste
6 medium potatoes, scrubbed

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high until melted, 20 to 30 seconds. Stir in olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Use a fork to poke about 5 holes into each potato. Place each potato on a sheet of aluminum foil about 6 inches wide. Brush butter mixture over potatoes, making sure to evenly coat each one. Wrap up completely in foil. Poke 5 more holes into the wrapped potatoes.
Bake potatoes in the center of the preheated oven until easily pierced with a fork, about 1 hour. Spread leftover butter mixture over potatoes after cutting them open.

4 baking potatoes, well scrubbed
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
kosher salt to taste
4 sheets aluminum foil

Steps:

Prick the potatoes with a fork several times, then rub potatoes with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and wrap tightly in foil. Place the potatoes into a slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4 1/2 to 5 hours, or on Low for 7 1/2 to 8 hours until tender.

This is a great way to have baked potatoes ready when you come home. I own two crock pots. In one I have my meat and the other I have a vegetable, some type of side or dessert. You can create a whole meal in a crock pot.

Ingredients

10 -12 small baking potatoes
aluminum foil

Steps:

Stab potatoes with fork.
Wrap each in foil.
Fill crock pot with potatoes.
Cover and cook on High 2 1/2- 4 hours.
Do not add water.
Cooking time depends on how big your potatoes are.
Use your best judgement.
It doesn't hurt to cook them for the 4 hours.
For large potatoes, I have cooked five to six on Low for 8 to 10 hours and they turn out perfectly.

Scrub the potatoes and dry completely. For each potato, tear off a piece of aluminum foil large enough to wrap around the potato completely. Prick the potato all over with a fork, then place it in the center of the foil. Drizzle with 1/2 teaspoon olive oil and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt. Rub the salt and oil over the surface of the potato, then wrap tightly with the foil sheet. Place in your slow cooker.
