My take on a homemade Philly cheese steak pizza! I'm loading up my homemade pizza crust with a quick garlic white sauce, lots of sautéed peppers, onions, and mushrooms. So why order out on Friday Night when you can make it at home?

1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
½ cup cold milk
1-3 cloves garlic, pressed
1/8 teaspoon salt
a pinch of black pepper AND nutmeg
¼ cup parmesan cheese
½ recipe homemade
6 ounces of cooked ribeye, skirt,or flank steak, or roast beef (see notes for cooking instructions)
½ green bell pepper, sliced
3-5 mushrooms sliced
½ sweet onion, thinly sliced
3 teaspoons oil (optional)
1 ¼ cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or provolone)

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 475ºF. Roll the dough out into a 12 inch circle. Create a lip or rim by thickening the dough around the crust portion. This keeps the sauce in instead of running over the sides. Let dough rest for 15-20 minutes while you prepare the sauce.
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and let cook for 1 minute or until it smells like baked pie dough. Slowly stream in the cold milk while you whisk. Add the pressed garlic and allow the sauce to come to a gentle simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Remove the sauce from the stove; whisk in the parmesan cheese. Allow the sauce to cool for 5-10 minutes, you can prep your veggies in that time.
  • The veggies can be used raw on the pizza if you prefer. I like to heat a skillet with a teaspoon of oil and cook each onions, peppers, and mushrooms for just a couple minutes separately. You'll use a total of 3 teaspoons of oil to do this. I sometimes let the onions go low and slow for a little longer to get them to sweeten up a bit more, however this is totally optional.
  • Top the dough with sauce, cooked steak, veggies, and shredded cheese. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is lightly browned and the cheese is bubbling and golden. For the last minute of baking, you can turn it to the broiler setting jus to get everything extra bubbly if you'd like. Slice pizza and serve!

8 ounces beef sirloin, thinly sliced
butter-flavored cooking spray
1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 (10 ounce) container refrigerated pizza dough
12 slices white American cheese
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a skillet with cooking spray.
  • Cook and stir beef sirloin in the prepared skillet over medium heat until browned on the outside and slightly pink in the middle, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer sirloin to a plate.
  • Spray the skillet with butter-flavored cooking spray. Add mushrooms, onion, and green bell pepper; cook and stir until just turning tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Roll pizza dough onto a baking sheet and top with American cheese. Spoon mushroom mixture and sirloin over American cheese layer and top with Mexican cheese blend.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.

1 red pepper, julienned
1 1/2 cups mixed mushrooms, sliced
1 small onion, halved and sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup pizza sauce
2 ounces cream cheese, cubed
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup cooked beef, julienned
1/3 cup pickled jalapeno pepper rings
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Spread out raw dough from can onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 4 minutes.
  • In large skilled, saute the peppers, mushrooms, and onion in oil until tender; add garlic.
  • Spread pizza sauce onto prebaked crust, dot with cream cheese, sprinkle with mozzarella, all the veggies, beef, pepper rings, cheddar cheese, and oregano.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

1 prebaked 12-inch pizza crust
1 medium onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings
1 small sweet red pepper, cut into 1/8-inch strips
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef, cut into 1/4-inch strips
1 jar (6 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Place crust on a 14-in. pizza pan; set aside. In a large skillet, saute onion and red pepper in oil for 3-5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Add beef and mushrooms; cook and stir for 3-5 minutes or until heated through. Drain. Stir in the seasonings., Spread meat mixture over crust to within 1/2 in. of edge. Combine the cheeses; sprinkle over pizza. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted. Cut into wedges.

2 prepared pizza crust
2 (2 ounce) packages of wafer thin sliced beef
1 (16 ounce) jar four cheese pasta sauce
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 large onion, cut into strips
1 large green pepper, cut into strips
1 tablespoon butter
2 (8 ounce) packages mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Cut wafer thin sliced beef into 1/2" strips. Marinate in Worcestershire sauce and Italian seasoning 15 minutes in air tight container in fridge, turning or stirring every 5 minutes.
  • Saute onion and green pepper in butter til almost done.
  • Add beef to onion and green pepper, cook til warmed through.
  • Cover each pizza crust with the cheesy sauce.
  • Put 1/2 beef/onion/pepper mixture on each crust.
  • Cover mixture with Mozzarella Cheese.
  • Bake on Pizza Pizzaz Pizza cooker for 18 minutes or in 400°F oven for 15-18 minutes.

1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 Italian frying pepper, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 pound shaved or very thinly sliced beef
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

4 whole-wheat pocketless pitas or prebaked individual-size pizza crusts
2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend, or a mix of shredded mozzarella, provolone and parmesan

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler. Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and frying pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef begins to brown, about 3 minutes. Add the parsley, 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and cook, stirring, 1 more minute. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with foil. Place the pitas on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle each with 1/4 cup cheese. Top evenly with the beef mixture and the remaining 1 cup cheese.
