Dairy Free Hot Chocolate image

This dairy free hot chocolate has only 5 ingredients! It's naturally sweetened with maple syrup and such a comforting holiday classic.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups almond milk (or favorite non dairy milk)
2 tablespoons raw cocao powder (can sub cocoa powder)
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
large pinch sea salt

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients into a large heavy bottom pot and heat over medium high heat.
  • Continuously whisk the ingredients together for about 2-3 minutes until the cocao powder is no longer clumpy and has blended into the milk. Continue to heat and whisk the milk until piping hot.
  • Pour into a heat proof mug and serve hot
  • Top with coconut whipped cream, a sprinkle of organic cinnamon, homemade marshmallows, or crushed candy canes.

5-Minute Vegan Hot Cocoa image

My go-to, 5-minute vegan hot chocolate made with simple ingredients you always have on hand. Creamy, luxurious, and surprisingly healthy.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 Tbsp dairy-free semisweet chocolate ((chips or bar // chopped))
Sweetener of choice
1/8 tsp peppermint extract
Coconut whipped cream

Steps:

  • Add almond milk to a large mug and microwave for 1 minute. Alternatively, add to a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Once milk is warm, add cocoa powder, chocolate and sweetener and whisk to combine.
  • Put back in microwave or continue cooking on stovetop until completely combined and has reached your preferred temperature.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • Lastly, add in your extract of choice - I think peppermint is truly unbeatable. Stir, and top with coconut whipped cream.
