This version uses white wine and only 3 other ingredients, including the chicken. Only 2 minutes prep time involved and in 8 hours you will have yourself one elegant and delicious meal. 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can French onion soup
1 cup dry white wine or 1 cup chicken broth
fresh mushrooms (optional) or canned mushroom (optional)

Steps:

  • Place the breasts in the crock pot.
  • Combine remaining ingredients and pour over chicken.
  • Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours.
  • Serve over rice, pasta or potatoes.

This is the best chicken slow cooker recipe ever, and I've tried a lot of them. I can't remember where I originally got it from; my version has been tweaked a little. I don't like mushrooms, but the mushrooms in the condensed soup are really big and easy to take out. Serve over hot cooked rice.

2 tablespoons butter
1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
1 (8 ounce) container chive and onion cream cheese
½ cup dry white wine
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, and stir in the salad dressing mix, mushroom soup, cream cheese, and wine until the sauce mixture is hot, smooth and well combined. Place the chicken breasts into the bottom of a slow cooker, and pour the sauce mixture over the chicken. Cover and cook on Low setting until chicken is tender, about 4 hours.

2 tablespoons butter, melted
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut in half
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/4 lbs baby portabella mushrooms, sliced thick
12 ounces frozen white pearl onions
1/2 cup dry white wine (use a wine you'd enjoy drinking, we like Yellow Tail chardonnay)
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 bay leaf
1 cup chicken broth
1/3 cup flour

Steps:

  • Place butter, chicken, salt, pepper, garlic, mushrooms, onions, wine, thyme, and bay leaf in crock pot.
  • Combine chicken broth and flour; pour mixture into crock pot, and stir.
  • Cover and cook on LOW setting for 5-6 hours.
  • Remove and discard bay leaf.
  • Serve over rice.

This creamy white wine chicken stew is easily gluten free and dairy free, and is truly a hug-in-a-bowl that's perfect for colder months! Serve with crackers, cornbread or homemade biscuits for the coziest dinner.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1 inch pieces
Freshly ground salt and pepper
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup dry white wine*
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary (fresh is best!)
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme (fresh is best!)
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
Lots of freshly ground black pepper
6 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 large yellow onion, cut into chunks
3 large carrots, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch diagonal slices
1 pound yukon gold potatoes, diced into ½ inch cubes
¼ cup all purpose flour (or sub all purpose gluten free flour)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or heavy cream or regular milk will work)
2/3 cup frozen peas

Steps:

  • Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to a large skillet and place over high heat. Add chicken pieces and generously season with salt and pepper, brown the meat so that you give the meat room for a nice sear. This should take about 5-6 minutes. You do not need to cook all the way through, we just want these nice and browned. Transfer to a large 6 or 8-quart slow cooker.
  • Next add the following to the slow cooker with the chicken: chicken broth, dry white wine, worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, thyme, rosemary, dried oregano and salt and pepper. Stir together with the chicken until combined, then add in garlic, onion chunks, carrots and diced potatoes. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. I prefer to cook this slow and low so that the chicken flavors really come out and the flavors have time to meld together, so 7-8 hours is really best for flavor here!
  • Next, remove 1/2 cup of chicken broth from the slow cooker and transfer to a medium bowl, then stir in ½ cup of milk and whisk in ¼ cup flour until there aren't any lumps remaining. Add mixture back to the slow cooker and stir to combine. Stir in frozen peas and cook uncovered on HIGH for 15-20 more minutes until chicken stew thickens up a bit. Taste and season with more salt and pepper, if necessary. Serve immediately with fresh thyme, toasted french bread, cornbread, crackers, or even buttermilk biscuits. Serves 4.

8 boneless skinless chicken thighs (about 1 1/2 lb)
1 bag (16 oz) ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots
8 oz tiny pearl onions
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 dried bay leaves
1 1/4 cups dry red wine
3/4 cup Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)
1 lb fresh small whole mushrooms
2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Line microwavable plate with microwavable paper towel. Add bacon; cover with paper towel. Microwave on High 3 to 5 minutes or until crisp. Crumble bacon.
  • Spray 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place chicken in cooker. Add carrots, onions, bacon, salt, pepper, thyme, garlic, bay leaves, wine and broth.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • Skim any fat from surface of chicken mixture. Stir in mushrooms. In small bowl, mix flour and water; stir into chicken mixture. Stir in parsley.
  • Increase heat setting to High. Cover; cook about 30 minutes longer or until mixture is thickened. Remove bay leaves before serving. Sprinkle with remaining chopped parsley.

Here's one of our favorite chicken dishes in the crockpot (with optional gravy). The chicken turns out so juicy and tender, not dried out at all. Very good over mashed potatoes, noodles or dumplings and you can add a side of stuffing as well (see my stuffing recipe #117776). I hope you enjoy!

3 -4 lbs organic whole roasting chickens or 3 -4 lbs hen
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/2 cup fresh snipped parsley
1 teaspoon thyme or 1 teaspoon herbes de provence, crushed
5 -6 carrots, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
3 celery ribs, with leaves sliced
1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken stock or water)
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Put carrots, onions, and celery in bottom of crock pot.
  • Thoroughly wash chicken and pat dry. Sprinkle cavity with salt, pepper and parsley. Place in crock pot, dot chicken breast with butter.
  • Sprinkle with parsley and tarragon or thyme, add wine.
  • Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours (High: 3 1/2 to 5 hours).
  • With a slotted spoon, remove chicken and vegetables to a platter, keep warm.
  • To make gravy (optional): To remaining pan juices stir in a tablespoon of cornstarch -OR- 3 tablespoons of flour. Heat through on HIGH in crock pot, -or- on medium heat in a separate sauce pan, stirring until gravy is smooth and thickened, about 5-10 minutes. Stir in a tablespoon or two of milk or cream, if desired.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles, dumplings, or buttered biscuits -plus- a side of stuffing recipe #117776---wonderful!

1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
5 minced garlic cloves
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon rosemary
salt

parsley flakes

Steps:

  • Place butter and garlic in microwave-safe bowl and heat until butter is soft; blend together.
  • Roll chicken breasts in garlic-butter mixture and place in crock pot.
  • Sprinkle chicken breasts with salt, pepper, parsley and rosemary.
  • Add broth to bowl with remaining garlic-butter, reheat if necessary to allow smooth blending, and add mixture to crock pot.
  • Cook on low setting for 6 - 8 hours.

3 lbs chicken parts (preferably breasts & thighs, but whatever you want works)
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 cup dry sherry
fluffy rice

Steps:

  • Rinse chicken parts and pat dry.
  • Season chicken lightly with salt and pepper.
  • In skillet, melt butter and quickly brown chicken parts. Place chicken in crock pot.
  • Meanwhile, saute onion and mushrooms in skillet. Add sherry to skillet and stir, scraping to remove browned bits. Pour contents of skillet into crock pot over chicken.
  • Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Cover and cook on LOW 8 hours (HIGH 4 hrs).
  • Serve chicken over fluffy rice and spoon sauce over top.
