WHITE WINE COOLER

1 orange
1 (750 ml) bottle chilled white wine, such as Riesling
1 (15-ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup
1/2 cup orange flavored liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar

Steps:

  • Slice orange and set aside. Add wine, peaches and their syrup, liqueur, orange juice, and sugar to a large pitcher, and stir to combine. Add orange slices to pitcher. Cover tightly and refrigerate for 1 hour. Pour into 6 wine glasses and serve immediately.

3 quarts water
1 1/2 cups sugar, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Squeeze the juice from 5 of the lemons, 3 of the limes and 5 of the oranges; pour into a gallon container.
  • Add water and sugar to juices; mix well.
  • Thinly slice the remaining orange and lemon and set aside for garnish.
  • Chill thoroughly and keep in the refrigerator. Serve on ice with orange and lemon slices.

1/4 cup sugar
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • Stir 1 cup water and sugar in small saucepan over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. transfer syrup to pitcher and chill until cold. Add orange juice, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and lemon juice to pitcher and stir to blend. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.) Fill 4 glasses with ice. Pour citrus cooler over and serve.

4 star anise pods, crushed
4 inches fresh ginger, peeled and sliced into thin coins
2 cups loosely packed mint leaves
2 quarts fresh grapefruit juice
1 quart fresh orange juice
1 quart fresh lime juice

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine 4 cups of the water with the sugar, star anise, ginger and mint.
  • Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and let stand for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup and refrigerate.
  • In a very large pitcher or bowl, stir together the grapefruit, orange and lime juices. Stir in the syrup and the remaining 4 cups of water. Serve over ice.
