This classic confection, traditionally made to resemble the nut of the buckeye tree, is reimagined as an acorn.

Steps:
- Stir together peanut butter and butter in a bowl with a wooden spoon. Add sugar; work into a smooth dough with your hands. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Using the palms of your hands, roll dough into 1 1/2-inch oblong "acorns" (you should have 36), flatten 1 end of each a bit with your fingertip, and place on a waxed paper-lined rimmed baking sheet. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water. Working with 1 acorn at a time, insert a toothpick into rounded tip, dip flat end into chocolate, then return to baking sheet. Remove toothpick, and insert a pretzel piece into the chocolate-dipped end of each acorn. Refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 2 hours.

- Reserve 48 chocolate chips. In a microwave, melt remaining chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Spread the flat side of each kiss with a small amount of melted chocolate; immediately attach each to a cookie., Secure one reserved chocolate chip as a stem onto each acorn. Place on waxed or parchment-lined baking sheets; let stand until set. Store in an airtight container.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl stir cookie mixes, butter and eggs until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, peanut butter pieces and walnuts.
- On large ungreased cookie sheets, drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls about 2-inches apart. Bake 13 to 16 minutes or until light golden brown.
- Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

- Heat oven to 350°F. With hands, shape roll of cookie dough so it forms a point all along the top and remains rounded at bottom. If dough is too soft to cut, wrap in plastic wrap, and place in freezer 15 minutes.
- With thin sharp knife, cut dough into 24 slices (about 3/8-inch thick). Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Place cut pretzel piece at top of each cookie at a slight angle. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely.
- In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and oil uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth. Using frosting spatula or knife, spread chocolate on top portion of each cookie to look like acorn shell. Place on waxed paper. Immediately sprinkle crushed pretzels over chocolate. Let chocolate set before serving.
