Chicken Dippers with Sauces image

Get dipping with these easy sauces, one a speedy blend of cranberry and bottled chili sauces, the other a thickened mix of fruit juices.

2 packages (11 to 12 oz each) breaded chicken nuggets
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2/3 cup apple or pineapple juice
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 can (8 oz) jellied cranberry sauce
2/3 cup chili sauce

Steps:

  • Bake chicken nuggets as directed on package.
  • Meanwhile, in small saucepan mix all ingredients for sweet and sour sauce. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.
  • In another small saucepan mix all ingredients for tangy chili sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring mixture until well blended and thoroughly heated. Serve chicken nuggets with warm sauces.

These tasty chicken dippers with mustard sauce are perfect for the kids. They only take 25 mins to cook

Number Of Ingredients 6

100g plain flour
2tsp freshly ground black pepper
1tsp salt
4 skinless chicken breast fillets, each cut into four pieces
2 eggs, beaten
Oil for shallow frying

Steps:

  • Mix together the flour, pepper and salt in a shallow dish. Place the beaten eggs in another shallow dish. Dust the chicken pieces with a little of the flour. Dip in the beaten egg then roll in the flour to give a thick coating.
  • Heat the oil in a large deep frying pan until a cube of bread dropped in the hot fat browns in 30 secs. Shallow fry the coated chicken in 2 to 3 batches, for 7 to 8 mins, until crisp, golden and cooked through, turning once. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain thoroughly on kitchen paper.
  • To make the sauce, mix the mayonnaise, mustard, honey and paprika in a small bowl. Serve with the hot chicken dippers.

This sauce is really good with chicken and a great alternative to the traditional BBQ sauce. I like the full teaspoon of black pepper. This is also great on a chicken sandwich.

½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup ketchup
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Whisk mayonnaise, ketchup, and garlic powder together in a bowl; add Worcestershire sauce to the mayonnaise mixture and whisk until smooth.
  • Sprinkle enough black pepper over the surface of the mayonnaise mixture to cover; stir to incorporate. Repeat sprinkling and stirring of black pepper.
  • Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the seasonings have blended into the sauce, at least 2 hours.

Serve these chicken wing dippers with sauces for easy buffet or party food. Try our moreish teriyaki and sweet curry sauces below, they work really well

1 kg chicken wings, wing tips removed and wings split into two pieces
1 tsp cornflour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sunflower oil

Steps:

  • Put the wings in a large bowl and toss with 1 tsp salt, the cornflour and baking powder - this will help the skin go crispy when baking. Chill, covered, for at least 1 hr, or ideally overnight.
  • Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Toss the wings with the oil, then arrange in a single layer on a wire rack set over a baking tray. Bake for 25-30 mins until golden, then turn the wings over and bake for 25-30 mins more until crisp. Transfer to a platter with sauces for dipping (see tips below), or put a large bowl on the table next to each sauce and toss the wings in the sauces.
