Cheesy Tater Bread Twister Recipes
CHEESY BACON TATER TOTS®
These delicious tots are great as a side dish or as a game day appetizer. The potatoes crisp in bacon grease before being baked with Cheddar cheese for an easy bacony, cheesy treat.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
- Cook bacon in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until crispy on both sides, about 10 minutes. Place on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside, keeping the bacon grease in the skillet.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add potato nuggets to the skillet. Season with garlic salt and toss until evenly coated. Cook until the outsides are crisp, about 10 minutes, turning carefully with a spatula once or twice. Remove the skillet from heat.
- Carefully remove 1/2 of the potato nuggets from the skillet and spread out remaining nuggets in a single layer. Top with 1/2 of the Cheddar cheese. Place remaining nuggets on top of the cheese and top with remaining cheese.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake until nuggets are warmed through and the cheese is melted and starts to turn golden brown, about 10 minutes.
- While the nuggets are baking, crumble the cooked bacon. Remove the skillet from the oven and top with crumbled bacon, sour cream, and green onions.

- When thawed, use a sharp knife or pizza wheel to cut each loaf into 9 equal pieces. Lay side by side on a non-stick surface then press together to form roughly two 10 x 16 inch rectangles.
- Brush the entire surface of one rectangle with melted butter. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, 1/2 tsp dry Italian seasoning and a 1/4 tsp garlic salt. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the grated Parmesan cheese. (May adjust salt to taste)

- In a large saucepan, heat the buttermilk and cheese over low heat. Stir until cheese is melted (mixture will look weird or curdled). Cool to 110° to 115°.
- In a large bowl, add sugar and yeast in warm water. Let sit for about 5 minutes. Add buttermilk mixture, eggs, salt and 3 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Put dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Or alternately knead in using a stand mixer fitted with dough hook for 5-6 minutes.Put dough in greased bowl. Turn dough once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Press dough down. Place on a lightly floured surface and divide in half. Roll each portion into an 18-in. x 12-in. rectangle. Brush each rectangle with half of melted butter. Top with cheese and remaining dough.
