Easy Salsa Sloppy Joes image

I created these sandwiches when I realized I did not have a can of sloppy joe sauce. The sweet brown sugar in this recipe complements the tangy salsa. -Mrs. Krista E Collins, Concord, North Carolina

1 pound ground beef
1-1/3 cups salsa
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1 tablespoon brown sugar
8 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Stir in salsa, soup and brown sugar. Cover and simmer 10 minutes or until heated through. Serve on buns. Freeze option: Cool and place in a freezer container; freeze up to 3 months. To use, thaw beef mixture in refrigerator; place in a saucepan and heat through. Serve on buns.

1 lb. extra-lean ground beef
1 cup TACO BELL® Thick & Chunky Mild Salsa
1/2 cup canned black beans, rinsed
1/2 cup CHEEZ WHIZ Cheese Dip
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp. each garlic powder, chili powder and adobo seasoning
8 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Brown meat in large skillet; drain.
  • Add remaining ingredients except buns; stir until blended. Cook 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  • Fill buns with meat mixture.

Spicy!!!! Crock pot recipe! Yes! There is no reason you can't make these stove top. Just simmer till flavors meld and meat is tender. I also puree an optional carrot and red bell pepper for sweetness and extra nutrients for the family

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 (6 ounce) can spicy vegetable juice or 6 ounces salsa
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons chopped canned jalapeno peppers or 2 chipotle chiles in adobo, minced
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
8 hamburger buns
1 shredded cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet cook ground beef, onion, and garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Meanwhile, in a 3 1/2 or 4 quart crockery cooker combine tomato juice, catsup, water, brown sugar, jalapeno peppers, mustard, chili powder and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Stir in meat mixture.
  • Cover; cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hours or high heat setting for 3-5 hours.
  • Toast buns; spoon meat mixture over buns and sprinkle with cheese.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
6 ounces Velveeta cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 cup thick & chunky salsa (you choose the heat)
6 kaiser rolls, partially split

Steps:

  • Brown meat with onions in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking up the meat. Drain any fat. Return to skillet.
  • Stir in cheese and salsa; cook on medium-low heat until cheese is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring frequently.
  • Spoon into rolls just before serving. Nice served with vegetable crudites.
