CANDY BAR PIE

Candy Bar Pie image

A combination of a few recipes and this was created, kids love it! Regardless of someone finding this on TOH with similarities, I state this is a combination of 2 different Jello pudding recipes. I wanted the filling of one combined into the other. that is why there is a cream cheese filling in mine. I combined the two Jello pudding pie recipes to suit my needs.

EASY CANDY BAR PIE (MR. GOODBAR PIE)

Easy Candy Bar Pie (Mr. Goodbar Pie) image

It doesn't get easier than this! Easy Candy Bar Pie uses just three ingredients for the filling. If you use a ready-made pie crust, you'll need just 4 ingredients total for the entire pie. It's smooth, rich, and kept chilled so it's great for a cool treat on a hot day.Hershey's Mr. Goodbar candy can be found at most US grocery stores in the candy aisle. You may also substitute your favorite chocolate bar. Use chocolate that has cocoa butter listed as an ingredient. This ensures the chocolate will incorporate well with the whipped cream. The recipe calls for a ready-made graham cracker crust, but if you'd rather make it from scratch, see the notes below for my recipe. It's also just three ingredients, but does require 10 minutes of baking to set the crust. Also see notes for garnishing ideas.

Provided by Heather Baird

Categories     Dessert

Time 2h15m

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 Mr. Goodbars (1.75 oz. each)
1 cup heavy whipping cream (chilled)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 Ready-made graham cracker pie crust (or see notes for homemade recipe)

Steps:

  • Crumble the chocolate bars in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat at 30 second intervals at 100% power until the chocolate can be stirred smooth, about 1 minute 30 seconds. Alternatively, you can do this over a double boiler. Set aside and let cool until barely warm to the touch, about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in the large bowl of an electric mixer, whip the heavy cream while gradually sprinkling in the sugar. Beat to stiff peaks.
  • Pour the cooled melted candy bar mixture over the whipped cream and fold together using a large rubber spatula. The mixture is properly folded when there are no streaks of white remaining, and the peanuts are well dispersed throughout the pie filling.
  • Pour the filling into the graham crust. Spread evenly and chill until firm, about 2 hours. Serve slices chilled. Refrigerate leftovers.

FABULOUS CANDY BAR PIE

Fabulous Candy Bar Pie image

Delicious! Very quick and easy to throw together. People will request the recipe over and over again.

Provided by GodzChild4ever

Categories     Pie

Time 10m

Yield 1 pie, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 graham cracker pie crust
1 (12 -16 ounce) container Cool Whip
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
6 candy bars (choose something that can be crushed easily, Butterfinger, Heath, etc.)

Steps:

  • Crush 5 of the candy bars.
  • Combine Cool Whip, cream cheese and candy bars.
  • Mix well.
  • Place mixture in graham cracker crust.
  • Crush the remaining candy bar and use for topping.
  • Chill until firm (approximately 20-30 min).
  • With this recipe I generally try to not use Light Cool Whip or fat free cream cheese unless I can chill the pie overnight - It has a tendency to make the pie run (even after it has chilled overnight) - You can use regular Cool Whip and reduced fat cream cheese, however.
  • Candy bars: I prefer Butterfinger or Heath - They are usually sold in a 6 pack, but if you can't find the regular sized bars, purchase 2-10 packs of the fun sized bars (reserve 3 of them for topping).

Time 1h20m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

4 ounces pretzel sticks, ground finely (in a food processor or blender)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 pinch salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons corn syrup
3/4 cup heavy cream, warmed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, melted
1/3 cup warm caramel sauce
1/4 cup coarsely chopped salted peanuts
1 (10 ounce) bag bittersweet chocolate chips, melted (I'm not a big bittersweet lover and would sub milk chocolate)

Steps:

  • For the crust: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together the ground pretzels, melted butter, sugar, and salt. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and chill until firm, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • For the caramel sauce: Whisk the sugar, water and corn syrup in a medium-size heavy saucepan until well combined. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. As it's coming to a boil, dip a pastry brush in water and brush down the sides of the pot to remove any sugar stuck to the sides. Cook the sugar mixture, without stirring, until it becomes a rich caramel color, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and slowly whisk in the warmed cream until the caramel sauce is smooth, using caution as the mixture may bubble up. (If the sauce seizes, stir it over low heat until the hardened caramel is melted.) Whisk in the butter and set aside.
  • For the pie: Carefully smooth the warmed peanut butter evenly over the bottom of the pretzel crust. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the peanut butter layer and gently spread with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle the chopped peanuts over the caramel layer. Refrigerate for another 10 minutes, if necessary. Finish with a smooth layer of melted chocolate. Refrigerate the pie until the chocolate is firm, about 30 minutes. Pie can then remain at room temperature until serving.
