Check out this outstanding double California burger, topped off with fresh lettuce and tomato slices. Perfect for grilling!

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 Lbs Ground Chuck Beef (80% lean / 20% fat - (2x for doubles))
4 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Pepper
1 Tomato
Lettuce
Mayo
Ketchup
4 Hamburger Buns

Steps:

  • Cut up the tomato and get the lettuce all set to go.
  • Get your grill/pan/etc hot.
  • Salt & pepper the ground beef and then divide into 8oz (1/2 lb) portions for singles or you can use smaller 6oz portions for a double burger. Flatten into patties that are about 1/2 inch larger than the buns.
  • Put a thumbprint in the middle of the patty so it doesn't puff up when cooking.
  • Grill your burgers about 4min on the first side.
  • Cook until you reach the correct temp (140F for medium), usually about 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Add cheese about a minute before you pull the burgers off the grill.
  • Optional: Add ketchup & mayo (about 50/50) to the bottom of the bun.
  • Stack up the ingredients (if you keep a lettuce leaf on top it keeps that bun from getting too soggy from the tomato) and enjoy!

2 pounds lean ground beef
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
1 egg, lightly beaten
¾ cup crushed saltine crackers
1 onion, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the grill for high heat.
  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef, ranch dressing mix, egg, crushed crackers, and onion. Form into hamburger patties.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Place patties on the grill, and cook 5 minutes per side, or until well done.

1 (1 ounce) package original ranch salad dressing mix, divided usage
1 cup Daisy Brand Sour Cream, divided usage
4 roll (blank)s hamburger buns, lightly grilled if desired
4 leaf (blank)s large lettuce leaves
¼ tomato, diced
¼ red onion, diced

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, 2 tablespoons dressing mix, and 1/4 cup sour cream; mix well (the mixture will be soft). Form the mixture into 4 burgers. Grill the burgers, turning once, until done (10 to 12 minutes); set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine the remaining dressing mix and remaining sour cream; mix well. Place each grilled burger on a bun. Top each burger with a lettuce leaf and 1/4 of the diced tomatoes and onions. Place a dollop of dressing on top of each burger before serving.
