BROWN SUGAR BLONDIES
A no-frills, basic brown sugar blondie. You can add various chips, but this recipe has a nice chewy caramel taste all on its own.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Mix brown sugar, flour, walnuts, butter, eggs, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl by hand until smooth. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the top is dry and edges have started to pull away from the sides of the pan, 25 to 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Melt 1/3 cup butter. Cool slightly. In a mixer or seperate bowl, add the butter to 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar and mix well. Add the egg (beaten) and vanilla and mix well.
- Add the flour mixture a little at a time and mix well. Mix in 2/3 cup M&M's.
- Spread in a greased 9x9x2 inch pan. Sprinkle 1/3 to 2/3 cup M&M's on the top.
- Bake for 20-35 minutes.

Really good blondies. They are like brownies but instead of chocolate they are brown sugar flavored. I made these for my grandmother-in-law's party and EVERYONE loved them. Steps:
- Put the oven rack on middle and heat the oven to 350 F.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat add the butter and brown sugar, stirring frequently until the sugar has dissolved and stir for about 1 minute longer.
- Set the pan aside to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Butter an 8 inch square pan and line the pan bottom with parchment paper and then butter the parchment paper.
- Stir the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla into the cooled sugar mixture.
- Add the flour, salt, and nuts, stirring until blended.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until the center springs back when touched and a toothpick comes out clean (from 25-35 minutes).
