APPLE BROWN BETTY

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray 2-quart casserole with cooking spray.
- In medium bowl, stir together bread crumbs and melted butter. In small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Place half of the apple slices in casserole; sprinkle with half of the brown sugar mixture and half of the bread crumb mixture. Repeat layers. Pour cider over top.
- Bake 45 to 55 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is browned. Serve warm.

- Tear toast into bite-sized pieces; place in a greased 1-1/2-qt. casserole. Top with apples. Combine sugars and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Drizzle with butter. , Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour, stirring after 30 minutes. Serve warm with cream.

This recipe belonged to my Grandma, she made it often. We love it, comfort food at it's best. Hope you enjoy!

Steps:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Arrange slices in the bottom of a lightly greased 12x9 pan.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Mix flour and brown sugar.
- Cut in butter until crumbly and set aside.
- Syrup: Combine ingredients and stir well.
- Drizzle half of mixture over apples.
- Cover with flour mix.
- Pour remaining syrup over top.
- Bake at 350 for one hour.
BROWN-BETTY BUTTONS
Steps:
- Melt 2 sticks butter over medium heat until browned, then cool. Make Classic Sugar Cookies with the browned butter in place of the 2 sticks butter and use just 1 egg yolk and 3/4 cup granulated sugar total (omit confectioners'). Scoop into tiny balls and bake 10 to 12 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool, then sandwich with raspberry jam and dust with confectioners' sugar.
BETTY BROWN'S BUTTER COOKIES
This recipe came from Great Gramma LaLonde's neighbor - Betty Brown. It is the only cut-out cookie I remember Grams Lorette ever making. I like them really thin and crispy. Dad prefers them thicker. Frosted is the best, using confectioners' sugar, flavoring, and milk.

- Beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt together in a separate bowl; mix, 1 cup at a time, into creamed butter mixture until dough is just mixed. Form dough into 1-inch-thick disks and place on a plate; chill in refrigerator, 2 hours to overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Roll disks into desired thickness on a lightly floured work surface using a floured rolling pin. Arrange dough on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are just starting to turn golden brown, 7 to 10 minutes.

- Combine corn flakes and butter. Spoon 1/3 of corn flakes mixture in dish.
- Cover with half of the apples.
- In a separate bowl, mix sugar, spices and lemon rind. Spread half of mixture on top of apples.
- In a third bowl, combine lemon juice and apple juice. Pour half over apples.
- Top with corn flakes.
- Cover and bake 20 minutes at 375°F.
- Uncover and bake another 20-30 minutes or until soft and brown.
