These cupcakes are high in vitamin A and potassium, and will make a healthy treat your dog will love. Portion size: For small dogs, 1/4 cupcake; medium dogs, 1/2 cupcake; large dogs, 1 cupcake

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup carrot, finely grated
1/2 cup blackstrap molasses
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, and oats in a small bowl.
  • Thoroughly combine the carrots, molasses, water, egg and oil in a large bowl.
  • Fold the dry ingredients into the wet and mix well.
  • Pour the batter into small cupcake pans and bake for 20 minutes.

I made this one year for my dog and she ate it all up. The honey is optional, but it makes it sweeter for the dog...and yes, I tried some. It's pretty good.

1 egg
¼ cup peanut butter
¼ cup cooking oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
⅓ cup honey
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup whole wheat or white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 6 cup ring mold.
  • Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey, if desired, in a large bowl; blend well. Stir in the carrots and mix thoroughly. Sift together the flour and baking soda and fold into the carrot mixture. Spoon cake batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes; then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Spoon out your batter(it will be decently thick) evenly between the muffin tins. You can fill them up to the top, because the batter is so dense, the cupcakes will not rise a great deal. Also, you may want to smooth out the top of the batter in each tin with the back of a clean spoon to make them nice and rounded.
