THE ORIGINAL MAI TAI
Here's how to make the original Mai Tai recipe! Gather the ingredients for this tropical rum drink that's as complex as it is fruity.

Steps:
- Place the aged rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, and orgeat syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until cold.
- Strain the drink into an ice-filled glass. Top with the dark rum. Garnish with fresh mint, a lime wedge, cocktail cherry and pineapple slice.
MAI TAI
The Mai Tai originated in California and was introduced to Hawaii in the 1940s, where orange and pineapple juices were added to create the Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai. This is Ree's favorite version of the famous drink.

- Combine the rums, lime juice, orange liqueur, almond syrup, orange juice and pineapple juice in a mason jar and secure the lid. Shake well. Fill 4 rocks glasses with ice and pour over the mixture.
- Add a splash of cherry juice to each glass. Garnish with the cherries, wedges of fresh pineapple and mint leaves.
THE ORIGINAL MAI TAI

- Pour all the liquids into a cocktail shaker. Fill it with ice and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour it all into a 16-ounce double old-fashioned glass. Garnish with lime slice, pineapple, and mint sprig.

- Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with 1 cup ice cubes, then strain into a glass filled with ice cubes.

BILL'S FAMOUS MAI TAI
It's a Hawaiian vacation in a glass. You can't help but feel on vacation as you sip this tropical rum-based concoction. Be careful-this drink has a kick! You can substitute Triple Sec for the orange Curacao if you must.

- Fill a large glass with ice; use a stir stick to mix in the light rum, amber rum, orange Curacao, pineapple juice, and sweet and sour mix.
