Classic Bloody Mary image

If you want to spice up that tomato juice, just use this classic bloody mary recipe serve in a salt-rimmed glass.

1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup ice cubes
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger vodka
¾ cup spicy tomato-vegetable juice cocktail (e.g., V-8)
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™)
salt and pepper to taste
1 stalk celery
2 stuffed green olives

Steps:

  • Salt the rim of a tall glass. To do so, pour salt onto a small plate, moisten the rim of the glass on a damp towel and press into the salt. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • In a cocktail mixer full of ice, combine the vodka, vegetable juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper. Shake vigorously and strain into the glass. Garnish with a stalk of celery and olives stuck onto a toothpick.

1/4 teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon celery salt, divided
1-1/2 to 2 cups ice cubes, divided
2 ounces vodka
1 cup tomato juice, chilled
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1-1/2 teaspoons lime juice
3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon prepared horseradish, optional
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
OPTIONAL GARNISHES:
Celery rib, pickle spear, green and ripe olives, cucumber slice and/or cocktail shrimp

Steps:

  • Using water, moisten rim of a highball glass. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon celery salt on a small plate; dip rim into salt. Discard remaining celery salt from plate. Fill a shaker three-fourths full with ice. Place remaining ice in prepared glass. , Add vodka, juices, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish if desired, pepper, remaining celery salt and pepper sauce to shaker; cover and shake until condensation forms on exterior, 10-15 seconds. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish as desired.

  • Combine all ingredients, except the celery, in a 32 ounce pitcher.
  • Add ice and mix well.
  • Pour into 6 glasses.

SALTED RIM (OPTIONAL):
1/2 teaspoon each coarse salt, celery salt, ground cumin, granulated garlic, paprika and ground mustard
3 tablespoons dill pickle juice
BLOODY MARY:
1-1/2 cups Clamato juice, chilled
1/4 cup vodka
2 tablespoons dill pickle juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Ice cubes
2 celery ribs
2 pepperoni-flavored meat snack sticks
2 dill pickle spears
2 each pitted ripe and green olives

Steps:

  • If desired, to make salted rim, combine spices in a shallow dish. Add 3 Tbsp. pickle juice to another shallow dish. Dip rims of glasses into pickle juice, allowing excess to drip off. Dip in salt mixture, pressing lightly. Tap to remove excess., In a small pitcher, combine the Clamato juice, vodka, pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce. Pour into glasses filled with ice; garnish with remaining ingredients.

1 1/2 ounces vodka
3 ounces tomato juice
1 lemon, juice of
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 drops Tabasco sauce
pepper
salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 tablespoon prepared horseradish (optional)
green onions (optional) or pickled green bean, to garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Rub lemon or lime around rim of glass and then put the rim in margarita salt or Tony Chachers, if desired.
  • Add ice to glass.
  • Mix Vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, Pepper, celery salt and horseradish (if using) and pour in glass.
  • Garnish with lemon or lime wedge, celery stalk, green onion or pickled green bean.

This is similar to Emerils, but a touch different. It will be the last bloody mary recipe you will ever want - I've tried several until I tweaked this one just right! Nothing like fresh.

3 cups tomato juice
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
3/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/3 cup pickle juice
1 ounce vodka, per drink

Steps:

  • In a blender combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, pickle juice, and hot sauce and process until smooth. Transfer to a nonreactive container and add celery salt and black pepper, to taste. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
  • When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice.
  • Add 1 ounce of vodka to each glass, then fill the glass with the bloody mary mix. Stir well, and garnish each glass with your favorite veggie, pickle, celery, pickled green bean, or a pickled okra.

1 pint cherry tomatoes
2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™)
1 cup pepper flavored vodka
2 tablespoons lemon pepper
2 tablespoons celery salt

Steps:

  • Remove the stems from the tomatoes, and place them in a shallow bowl. Pour vodka over them so that they are covered. Stir in the hot pepper sauce. Cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  • To serve, mix together the lemon pepper and celery salt in a small dish. Serve tomatoes floating in vodka. Provide toothpicks so that your guests may pick up the tomatoes and dip them in the seasoning before eating.
