Quick 'n' Easy Sausage on a Bun image

Try sausage sandwiches the way you like 'em with Quick 'n' Easy Sausage on a Bun! This simple sausage on a bun recipe features peppers and cheese.

4 Italian sausage links (1 lb.)
1 each green and red pepper, cut into wedges
1 onion, sliced, separated into rings
1/4 cup KRAFT Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
1 can (14.5 oz.) no-salt-added diced tomatoes, undrained
4 French bread rolls, partially split, toasted
3/4 cup KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Steps:

  • Cook sausage in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat 12 min. or until done (160ºF), turning after 6 min. Remove sausages from skillet; cover. Discard drippings from skillet.
  • Add peppers, onions and dressing to skillet; cook and stir 5 min. or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in tomatoes. Bring to boil; cook 5 min., stirring occasionally.
  • Cut sausages lengthwise in half, being careful to not cut all the way through to bottom of each. Open sausages; place, cut sides down, on bottom halves of rolls. Top with vegetable mixture and cheese.

1 pkg. any Piller's Sausage, 500 g or 600 g, grilled
Topping 1: Warm Carrot and Onions Slaw
280 g (10 oz.pkg.) tri-coloured carrots, grated
1 onion, finely sliced
60 ml (1/4 cup) balsamic vinegar
Topping 2: Celery Root Saute
1 onion, finely sliced
1 red pepper, thinly sliced to matchstick size
125 ml (1/2) cup) celery root, thinly sliced to matchstick size
30 ml (2 Tbsp.) olive oil
Topping 3: Easy Roasted Garlic Aioli
125 ml (1/2 cup) mayonnaise
125 ml (1/2 cup) low fat sour cream
4 roasted garlic cloves
Juice of one lemon
Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Warm Carrot and Onions Slaw: Simmer balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan until reduced by half. Over medium/high heat, saute carrots and onions until the onions are translucent; drizzle with reduced balsamic vinegar. Dress your favourite Piller's sausage on a bun with the warm slaw and top with garlic aioli. Celery Root Saute: In a non-stick pan over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil; add onions, red pepper, and celery root and saute until onions are translucent, about 3 to 5 minutes. Dress your favourite Piller's sausage with the saute and top with garlic aioli. Easy Roasted Garlic Aioli: Place all ingredients in a food processor and puree until smooth. 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) no-salt-added diced tomatoes, drained
2 cans (14 ounces each) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 large sweet pepper, thinly sliced
1 large onion, halved and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 packages (14 ounces each) smoked sausage, sliced
12 pretzel sausage buns, warmed and split partway

Steps:

  • In a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine first 7 ingredients. In a large skillet, saute sausage over medium-high heat until lightly browned. Stir into tomato mixture., Cook, covered, on low until vegetables are tender, 4-5 hours. Serve in buns.

2 Italian sausage links (4 ounces each)
1/4 cup water
1 small green pepper, cut into strips
1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup spaghetti sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
2 brat buns, split and toasted
2 tablespoons shredded Italian cheese blend

Steps:

  • Place sausages and water in a large skillet; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Uncover; cook 5-10 minutes longer or until meat is no longer pink; drain. Remove sausages and keep warm., In the same skillet, saute pepper and onion in oil until tender. Return sausages to pan. Stir in spaghetti sauce and basil; heat through. Serve sausages on buns with sauce and cheese.

Steps:

  • Remove sausages from skillet; cover to keep warm. Drain skillet.
  • Add peppers, onions,garlic and dressing to skillet; cook and stir 5 minute or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  • Stir in tomatoes. Bring to boil; cook 5 min., stirring occasionally.
  • Cut sausages lengthwise in half, being careful to not cut all of the way through to bottom of each sausage.
  • Open sausages; place, cut-sides down, on bottom halves of rolls.
  • Top evenly with pepper mixture and cheese. Cover with top halves of rolls.
  • Optional:Place sausage on bun; spoon on sauce. Top with cheese and microwave or place under broiler until cheese is melted.
