World's Best Baked Beans image

World's Best Baked Beans will be the last recipe you will ever make! These easy homemade baked beans are the perfect side to a potluck and a tried and true family recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound bacon
1 green pepper (diced)
1 onion (diced)
4 15 ounce cans pork and beans
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce

Steps:

  • Fry up the bacon and crumble in pieces. Cut up the green pepper and onion and cook in the bacon grease until soft. Combine all ingredients together. Let simmer in pan on low for at least an hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Fry up the bacon and crumble in pieces. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and discard some grease. Add the green pepper and onion and fry until tender.
  • Combine bacon, green pepper, and onion, pork and beans, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a 9x13 inch pan. Bake covered for 1 hour. You can also simmer in a large pot on the stove for 1 hour.

I got this recipe from my sister in law years ago and is the only baked bean recipe I make.. It is really good.. note you can use whatever brand pork and beans you desire and if you want you can add grated cheddar cheese on them before you bake them. Also the tomato soup is 10 and 3/4 oz..

4 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1 teaspoon dry mustard
4 slices bacon, fried and chopped up
1 cup onion, chopped up
1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 green pepper, chopped up
1 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • cook bacon and cut in small pieces. Mix with all ingredients and Bake at 325 for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Top with 1 cup grated cheddar cheese if desired. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

1 pound dried Great Northern beans
1 pound bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 jalapenos, chopped
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
Vegetable broth
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons kosher salt

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 250 degrees F.
  • Soak beans in a plastic container overnight in just enough cold water to submerge them completely.
  • Place a cast iron Dutch oven over medium heat and stir in the bacon, onion, and jalapenos until enough fat has rendered from the bacon to soften the onions, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, dark brown sugar, and molasses.
  • Drain the beans and reserve the soaking liquid. Add the drained beans to the Dutch oven. Place the soaking liquid in a measuring cup and add enough vegetable broth to equal 4 cups of liquid. Add the liquid to the Dutch oven and bring to a boil over high heat. Add in cayenne, black pepper and salt. Give them a stir and cover with the lid. Place the Dutch oven in the oven for 6 to 8 hours, or until the beans are tender.

  • Heat a large (oven safe, if you don’t want to transfer) skillet over medium-low heat and add the bacon. Cook until it’s brown and crisp and most of the fat is rendered.
  • Stit in the onion, pepper and garlic. Cook, stirring often, until everything softens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the paprika, chili powder, salt and pepper. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the vinegar, BBQ sauce, ketchup, mustard and brown sugar until combined.
  • Stir in the baked beans directly from the can. Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn off the heat. I suggest tasting the beans here and adding more salt, pepper or heat if desired. If you'd like, you can lay a few strips of bacon on top of the beans here too!
