APPLESAUCE BREAD

Steps:
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the egg and applesauce; mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture just until moistened. Fold in raisins and nuts. , Pour into a greased 8x4-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan. Mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the applesauce. Fold in the walnuts and raisins. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.

- Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches.
- Beat brown sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on high speed 2 minutes. Beat in egg, vanilla and applesauce. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves. Stir in raisins and nuts. Pour batter into pan.
- Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. Loosen sides of loaf from pan; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour, before slicing.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 2. grease loaf pan
- 3. combine applesauce and baking soda in small bowl--set side.(this mixture sizzles and foams)
- 4. cream butter and sugar in large bowl
- 5. stir in egg, cinnamon, salt and cloves
- 6. blend in applesauce mix (this will appear to be curdled).
- 7. mix in flour slowly until mix is smooth.
- 8. fold in raisins and pour into greased pan
- 9. bake 65-70 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 munutes then invert onto cooling rack.
