Sour Cream Chicken is an easy and delicious weeknight meal. Boneless chicken breasts are smothered in a simple sour cream sauce. Made with made with simple ingredients, you'll have a tasty chicken dinner on the table in no time.

3-4 chicken breasts
1 cup mozzarella
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup Parmesan (grated)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Lightly coat a 9x13 baking dish or casserole dish with olive oil.
  • Mix together sour cream with a 1/2 cup of Parmesan, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Lay your chicken breasts in baking dish, top each with mozzarella cheese. Spread the sour cream mixture over the chicken in the casserole dish
  • Top with remaining Parmesan. Cook for 1 hour, or until internal temp of the chicken reaches 165 degrees F.
  • Garnish with parsley.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
8 chicken thighs
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch paprika
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried dill weed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown chicken on both sides and transfer to prepared baking dish. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.
  • Combine mushroom soup, onion soup mix, sour cream, lemon juice, and dill weed. Pour over chicken.
  • Bake in preheated oven for one hour, or until chicken pieces are done and sauce is browned. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

1 cup reduced-fat sour cream
2 tablespoons minced chives
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons celery salt
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 small garlic clove, minced
1-1/4 cups seasoned bread crumbs
1 broiler/fryer chicken (2 to 3 pounds), cut up and skin removed
2 tablespoons reduced-fat butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a shallow bowl, combine first seven ingredients. Place bread crumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Coat chicken with sour cream mixture, then coat with bread crumbs., Arrange chicken on a rack in a foil-lined 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake, uncovered, 30 minutes. Drizzle with butter; bake 15-20 minutes or until juices run clear.

This was a staple in my family growing up. Being married now, my husband requests it all the time! Though it's not the healthiest, it's a quick and easy option for a weekday meal. Can be made with chicken thighs as well.

1 tablespoon butter
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
½ cup white wine
½ cup chopped white onion
1 cup sour cream
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; cook chicken in melted butter until browned completely, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Pour wine into the skillet, bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and continue cooking until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Remove chicken from the skillet to a serving platter.
  • Stir onion into the liquid remaining in the skillet; cook and stir until onion is tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Add sour cream to the skillet; stir until smooth. Season the mixture with salt and pepper; pour over chicken.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
salt and pepper
1/2 cup butter
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon paprika
2 (16 ounce) packages frozen broccoli, cooked & drained well
1 (16 ounce) carton sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Preheat over to 375 degrees F.
  • Season chicken with salt& pepper.
  • In small skillet, melt butter; add onion and garlic and saute for a few minutes.
  • Add paprika and mix.
  • Smush chicken in the mixture, coating well.
  • Place in shallow baking dish.
  • Spoon leftover onion mixture over breasts.
  • Bake in oven for 20 minutes.
  • Cover with foil and bake 10 more minutes.
  • Arrange drained, hot broccoli on top of and around chicken.
  • Mix sour cream and mayonnaise and spoon over all.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Broil low in oven for 10 minutes.

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, thinly sliced
2 to 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 medium green onions, sliced (3 tablespoons)
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Sprinkle chicken pieces with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper; add to skillet. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden. Add butter, onion and garlic. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender.
  • In small bowl, mix sour cream, broth and cornstarch until smooth. Pour over chicken mixture. Reduce heat to low. Cook about 5 minutes longer, stirring occasionally, until chicken is no longer pink in center and sauce is thickened. Stir in half of the green onions.
  • Serve chicken and sauce over rice. Sprinkle with remaining green onions.

1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 carrot, grated
1 cup water
400 -500 g sour cream
2 tablespoons flour diluted in milk
pepper, salt

Steps:

  • Fry the chicken on both sides until it starts to brown.
  • Add the onion, the grated carrot and the water and let it cook for about 20 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed.
  • Add the sour cream and stir.
  • Simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • Add salt, pepper and the flour dissolved in milk.
  • Cook for another 5 minutes and serve hot.

I've been asked for many years now if I had my grandmother's original recipe for my "World Famous Sour Cream Chicken", and I'm happy to provide it to all my fans. I hope you like it as much as my version.

6 chicken breasts
2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup lemon juice
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
4 teaspoons celery salt
2 teaspoons paprika
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
4 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 3/4 cups dry breadcrumbs
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening

Steps:

  • Cut chicken breasts in half and wipe dry with a paper towel.
  • In a large bowl, combine sour cream with lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, paprika, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Add the chicken to the sour cream mixture, coating each piece well.
  • Cover in the refrigerator over night or at least one hour.
  • Preheat over to 350°F.
  • Remove chicken and roll in the bread crumbs.
  • Arrange in a single layer in a shallow baking dish.
  • Melt butter and shortening.
  • Spoon half over the chicken.
  • Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
  • Remove from over and spoon the rest of the butter mixture over the chicken.
  • Bake for another 10-15 minutes or until tender and brown.
