1 bag of colourful cole slaw (or you can grate up your cabbages yourself, or use broccoli slaw)
1 cup of mayo (real mayo - not Miracle Whip)
2 tbsp. white vinegar
2 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cream together the mayo, vinegar, and sugar- adjust the vinegar and sugar amounts according to your taste, by tasting the dressing
  • Add the cabbage mixture to the dressing and toss thoroughly
  • Add pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Refrigerate until you are ready to serve and allow the dressing to saturate the slaw
  • Stir well before serving

We also use dry mustard to add a subtle kick and celery salt and honey for a touch of sweetness. It's perfect for your next cookout!

2/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon celery salt
7 cups shredded green cabbage (about 1/2 small head)
1 cup shredded red cabbage
1 cup shredded carrots
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk the mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, honey, mustard powder and celery salt in a large bowl until combined. Add both cabbages and the carrots; toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover the slaw and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Toss again and season with salt and pepper.

1 1/3 cups sugar
1 cup white vinegar
2 1/2 pounds cabbage, shredded
2 cups finely chopped celery
3 medium carrots, shredded
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon mustard seed
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Essence, recipe follows
2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan combine the sugar and vinegar and heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. Set aside to cool completely before proceeding.
  • Assemble remaining ingredients in a large, non-reactive mixing bowl and pour cooled sugar-vinegar mixture over all. Toss well to combine, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight before serving.
  • When ready to serve, season with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and Essence, to taste, and toss thoroughly to combine.
