I learned that in Rome and other parts of Italy, pizza simply started out as bread with oil and herbs on it. In some locales, cheese, tomato and grilled meat were added. Ingredients

1 submarine roll (6 to 7 inches)
2 to 3 thin slices fully cooked ham
3 to 4 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 small tomato, thinly sliced
4 sprigs fresh parsley, chopped
4 fresh basil leaves, chopped or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon prepared Italian salad dressing or reduced-fat Caesar vinaigrette

Steps:

Split roll enough to open (don't cut all the way through); place open-faced on a baking sheet. Layer remaining ingredients in order listed over roll. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and sandwich is warm. Fold top of roll over and serve immediately.

4 slices KRAFT Provolone Cheese
1 pkg. (15 oz.) OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Combos The Classic
1/4 cup banana pepper rings
6 CLAUSSEN Kosher Dill Sandwich Slices

Steps:

Mix mayo and dressing until blended; spread onto cut side of top half of baguette.
Fill baguette with remaining ingredients.

4 tsp. GREY POUPON Savory Honey Mustard
4 oz. OSCAR MAYER CARVING BOARD Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
4 oz. OSCAR MAYER CARVING BOARD Slow Cooked Ham
4 CLAUSSEN Kosher Dill Sandwich Slices
4 KRAFT Big Slice Swiss Cheese Slices
1 tsp. butter

Steps:

Spread bread with mustard; fill with all remaining ingredients except butter.
Cut into 4 pieces.
Melt butter in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add sandwiches; cook 4 to 6 min. on each side or until cheese is melted and each sandwich is golden brown on both sides, occasionally pressing sandwiches with back of spatula to flatten slightly.

2 French bread demi baguettes (4 ounces each)
1/4 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
2 teaspoons Thai red chili paste
1/4 pound thinly sliced deli ham
1 cup thinly sliced English cucumber
1/2 cup shredded carrots
2 cups spring mix salad greens
2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves

Steps:

Preheat broiler. Cut baguettes in half lengthwise; cut crosswise in half. Place bread on a baking sheet, cut side up. Broil 4-6 in. from heat until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes., In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, chili sauce and chili paste; spread over cut sides of baguettes. Layer baguette bottoms with ham, cucumber, carrots, salad greens, basil and mint; cover with tops.

2 slices brown bread
2 slices turkey ham
1 slice low-fat American cheese
1 tablespoon low-fat mayonnaise
1 tablespoon honey mustard
1 pickle
1/4 cup low-fat Coleslaw
1/4 cup alfalfa sprout

Steps:

Spread low fat mayonnaise on one slice of bread and the honey mustard on the other slice.
Put cheese on the mayonnaise slice of bread, top with coleslaw and then ham.
Chop pickle up into dime sized slices and arrange on top of ham. Then top with alfalfa sprouts and honey mustard slice of bread. Enjoy.
