Yummy Mummy Cheese Spread (Mummy Shape) Halloween image

Originally from Taste of Home by Revecca Eremich of Bremerton, OH. I added more milk than the original recipe. This is the cutest mummy on the Halloween buffet, and kids and adults will get a kick out of stabbing the cheese knife into the poor mummy.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (12 ounce) logs port wine cheese
8 ounces cream cheese
2 tablespoons milk
2 peppercorns
1 slice pimiento, strip

Steps:

  • Cut the cheese logs into pieces for the mummy's head (make it a square shape) arms (smaller and thinner) and legs (longer than the arms).
  • Arrange on the platter.
  • Beat cream cheese ( softened at room temperature) and milk until smooth.
  • Use a pastry or plastic bag and cut a small slit for piping.
  • use a basket weave tip #47 and pipe mixture over the entire mummy ( I use a cookie decorating tool. It works almost like a caulking gun. I squeeze the trigger and the mixture pipes out).
  • Leave one or two longer like the mummy is coming undone.
  • Add two whole peppercorns for the eyes.
  • Add the pimento strip for the mouth.
  • Chill until ready to serve.
  • Serve with crackers.

1 package 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon 2% milk
2 whole peppercorns
1 pimiento strip

Steps:

  • Cut the cheese logs into pieces for mummy's head, body, arms and legs; arrange on a serving plate. In small bowl, beat cream cheese and milk. Cut a small hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; insert basket weave tip #47. Pipe rows across the mummy, creating bandages. Add peppercorns for eyes and pimiento strip for mouth. Chill until serving.

I love this recipe because it is simple, not much to clean up and is really good. You need to spread it on crackers until it gets softer, so if you want to "dip" something in it, leave it come to room temperature first.

1/2 teaspoon dill
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
8 ounces softened cream cheese, save the box
3 green onions, green tops only
1 small green bell peppers or 1 small pimiento

Steps:

  • Open cream cheese box carefully. You need to save the box to mold the mix when done.
  • Mix the dill, garlic powder, salt and pepper with the softened cream cheese until well mixed. Mold back into the saved cream cheese box and chill until firm. Unmold it. Take 2 green onion tops and wrap the block like a present and the 3rd one to tie into a bow, if you can. Dot the outside with whatever you choose--red or green peppers or pimientos. Place your choice of crackers around the edge of the plate. I guessed on the prep time. Depends on what you choose to decorate the block with. You can leave it plain if you wish. Chill time is just about right for most refrigerators.

I always make it around the holidays, or for football and hockey game nights. Everyone begs for this recipe. Turn this into a pub spread by adding a half cup of your favorite dark ale. Use brick cream cheese for a spread, or spreadable cream cheese for a dip. Serve with crispy crackers, toast, or bagels.

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 (8 ounce) container cold pack aged sharp Cheddar cheese (such as MacLaren's Imperial Sharp Cold Pack Cheddar Cheese product)
¼ cup finely chopped red onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 dash hot sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • Place cream cheese and cold pack Cheddar cheese in a microwave-safe bowl; slice cheese into chunks with a knife. Microwave cheese in 30-second intervals on high just until softened, stirring between intervals.
  • Stir red onion, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, paprika, and hot sauce into cheese mixture with a fork until evenly combined; spoon into an airtight container and refrigerate, 8 hours to overnight.
  • Remove cheese spread from refrigerator about 30 minutes before serving.
