Making these treats is a breeze. I simply whip up a sugary filling, roll it into small balls to resemble scoops of ice cream and perch them on top of Bugle corn snacks. Then I roll them in sprinkles or nuts.-Dianne Conway, London, Ontario

2 tablespoons butter, softened
1-1/3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
1 package (6 ounces) Bugles
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted, optional
Assorted sprinkles and/or ground nuts

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat butter and confectioners' sugar until crumbly. Beat in salt and vanilla. Add milk and mix well (mixture will be stiff)., Shape into 1/2-in. balls. Place one ball on top of each Bugle. Dip tops of some or all in melted chocolate if desired. Decorate with sprinkles and/or nuts.

This is my most-requested Christmas candy. Each December, my husband, daughter and I whip up batches to fill colorful tins that we give to all our friends. It's so easy and fun to make!

Yield About 14 dozen.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1-1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
6 cups original flavor Bugles
12 ounces milk chocolate candy coating

Steps:

  • Cut a small hole in the corner of a plastic bag with peanut butter. Pipe the peanut butter into the Bugles. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy coating at 70% power for 1-1/2 minutes; stir. Heat 1 to 1-1/2 minutes longer or until melted; stir until smooth. Dip the filled end of Bugles halfway in coating. Place on waxed paper to dry.

ZEBRA CARAMEL BUGLES

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (7.5 ounce) bag Bugles
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup white baking chips
1/3 cup milk chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Remove Bugles from the bag and place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Mix and stir until smooth and mixture starts to boil. Boil and stir for about 1 minute. Remove from heat and add in baking soda.
  • Pour the caramel mixture over the Bugles in the mixing bowl. Stir in gently so you don't crush the Bugles.
  • Spread it out on the parchment lined cookie sheet and let cool.
  • Place the white chocolate and milk chocolate chips in individual baggies.
  • Microwave at 30 second intervals until smooth and melted. Snip off the corner of the baggie and drizzle over the the cooled caramel bugles.
  • Let the Zebra topping set up and then break the Bugles into sections and enjoy a delicious dessert.
